These are our last flags of the month. We have Scotland, Venezuela, Mexico, France, Cuba, and South Africa! These flags may not represent our earliest settlers, but they still represent Lincoln County. Every person, family, and culture adds a wonderful new chapter, helping to make our community strong, vibrant, and welcoming.

You still have until Thursday to come in and color these flags! Each flag you finish coloring will get you a popsicle! All flags will be displayed during Founders Day weekend.

We had quite the party yesterday for Dolly Day! In fact, this was the most attended library event of the year!! Thankfully, we had enough Cuppa Cuppa Cake and ice cream from everyone. The kids also got to decorate their own butterflies, and many of them turned their butterflies into bracelets!

Thank you to everyone who helped out yesterday and thank you to the grade school for filling up our "cups of ambition"!! If you didn't have a chance to see our cups yesterday, they'll be up for the next couple weeks.

Our next flag is the Pan-African flag, also known as the Black Heritage flag, to represent our African American settlers!

Another well-known figure in county history was James "Gentleman Jim" Mitchell. Born in Texas during the final years of slavery, he came to Lincoln County in the 1880s and became one of the county's most respected residents. He worked for local families, served as a janitor at the Saline Valley Bank, was known for his musical talents, and was remembered as "the children's friend" because of the care and kindness he showed local youngsters. His funeral in 1929 filled the church with friends and neighbors who respected him greatly. He is buried in Lincoln Cemetery.
