D8 Community Meeting Wednesday Night, as well as the Highland Commerce Guild meeting in the morning. Swipe through for the details on how to attend.

Neighbors, if you have concerns about the Bardstown/ Baxter business corridor (or anything else in the neighborhood), now is the time to get out of the social media comments and into the meeting room with our District’s representative Councilman Ben Reno-Weber and others in The Highlands community.

Attending the monthly in-person community meetings and other communication opportunities made available are more effective ways you can contribute to the conversations around what’s been occurring in The Highlands and hopefully be able to learn about any news or developments on the issues that matter most to you; Whether that’s criminal activity and safety concerns, traffic frustrations, upcoming construction or building projects, supporting small businesses etc., we encourage you to get involved, active and vocal!

In addition to District 8 meetings, District 5 Louisville Metro Police Department has occasional opportunities (“coffee with cops”) you can attend, the Highlands Commerce Guild has monthly meetings, and each of the neighborhood associations in the area usually have a monthly board meeting, and of course the larger Louisville Metro Council meetings that occur twice a month and are open to the public to attend and listen or request (in advance) to speak at. We hope you’ll consider going to some and collaborating with other neighbors and the community on how to make The Highlands and its amazing neighborhoods the best they can be!

As we mentioned in the email we sent out to our members this week, we will be having an upcoming election in July for the seat openings on the 2026/2027 Cherokee Triangle Association Board of Trustees. We had great interest and several applicants this year and are excited for what each can bring to our board. 🎉

Additionally, we wanted to share the election process with each of you again, so that you'll be informed on how to cast your vote in a few short weeks. ⬇️

We currently have five open seats on the Board and six very qualified candidates. All of them reside in the Cherokee Triangle and are active members of the Association. Their bios are available to read on our website, here ➡️ https://cherokeetriangle.com/trustees/election/

📧 A few days before the election deadline we will send out an email to our CURRENT AND LIFETIME MEMBERS with the voting instructions and digital ballot. You will have three days to do vote.

-To be eligible to vote, you must have an active member status (dues are paid) of The Cherokee Triangle Association. You can check your status in Join It membership portal

Cherokee Golf Course has a new sign with a powerful story behind it. Earlier this June, we honored Dr. Pruitt Owsley Sweeney for his role in ending segregation in Louisville’s public golf courses. His legacy lives on through a historic plaque along the Cherokee Park Scenic Loop. On your next visit, take a moment to read and reflect on this important piece of our city’s history.
