Great aftercare doesn’t happen by accident. It takes dedication, accountability, and a commitment to always do better. 🐎❤️

At Equine Rescue of Aiken, we are incredibly proud and grateful to be an accredited organization of the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (TAA)!

Thank you, TAA, for helping us be better at what matters most — caring for the horses.

Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance announced today that 45 Thoroughbred aftercare organizations have been awarded accreditation for 2026.

Of the 45 organizations, 39 were previously accredited, and six earned accreditation for the first time this year. Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance, the gold standard and only accrediting body in Thoroughbred aftercare, now has a network of 91 organizations with approximately 170 facilities across North America.

The six organizations earning accreditation for the first time this year are: Alberta Thoroughbred Aftercare Society, California Thoroughbred Retirement Farm, Heart Bar Foundation, Kingfisher Equine Rehab & Rehome, Operation Second Stride, and Wild Hearts Thoroughbred Adoption Society.

Are you looking for a beautiful pasture pet with personality and flair? Then Wally is your guy!

Wally is a 15 year old paso fino cross pony. He is absolutely a stand out in the pasture with his flowing mane and tail. It is unknown if he is broke to ride, so we are just adopting him as a companion. He is currently in with a mini gelding and a pony mare.

This guy is Easy to handle and good for farrier. He is ready for a new home.

If you’re interested in adopting, make sure to fill out an Adoption Application first to be able to schedule a viewing or be able to ride him. Adoption application is available at

Starvation isn’t just about the ribs you can see. It’s about the devastating damage you can’t.

This gelding survived starvation, but severe laminitis has left him barely able to walk. He’s now in our medical barn, receiving treatment and fighting for a second chance.

The cruelty of starvation doesn’t end when the feeding begins.
