Feed the Need Update!

Our Bobcat has arrived! 🎉 This new addition will help us make better use of our equipment and tackle a variety of projects around the Ranch. With attachments like a bucket and finishing mower, it will be a valuable tool for keeping up with the many needs of our property.

A huge thank-you to everyone who contributed to our Feed the Need campaign at the auction. Your generosity helps make improvements like this possible, and we are so grateful for your support! ❤️

In woodshop, one of our students is working to build a staked high stool. With guidance from his instructor, Gabe, he’s learning each step, trying it himself, and watching his hard work take shape.

At Salem, it’s about more than building a stool. It’s about learning new skills, working through challenges, and seeing what you can accomplish when you put in the effort.

Thank You, Jacksonville First Christian Church!

A huge thank-you to Jacksonville First Christian Church for spending the day serving at the Ranch! Their team helped clean out our old training room to prepare for the new weight room equipment made possible through this year’s Feed the Need campaign, along with other projects like moving a pool table into our newly remodeled game room!

We are so grateful for the partnership we’ve shared with this church and for the ways they have blessed Salem and the boys we serve.

There are many ways to come alongside Salem, even beyond serving on a work team. Whether through prayer, financial support, or helping share our mission with others, every partnership makes a difference. We are thankful for everyone who chooses to be part of what God is doing here at Salem! 🙏

Another reminder of what a generous community we get to be a part of!

Thank you to Helping Hands Thrift Store in Pontiac for choosing Salem4Youth as one of this month’s nonprofit recipients. Your generosity helps support the work we do with students every day.

We are truly grateful for your continued support of Salem!

From the original shot to the final edit!

Our photography students have been working on developing their photography and editing skills. We put together four before-and-after comparisons to show how they transformed their original photos into their finished images!

Swipe through to see their work and the creativity that goes into each shot. We love seeing our students build new skills and explore their interests through hands-on learning at Salem! 🙌

Old fences. Scrap metal. A little creativity and a lot of hard work. 🔥

In Horse Vocations, students are learning to cut, grind, weld, and build — turning salvaged materials into something useful from the ground up.

And this roping saddle stand isn’t finished yet… 👀

Part 2 coming soon.

A win takes the whole team. ⚽️

Every player has a role to play, and yesterday the boys showed what it looks like when those roles come together. From strong defense to creating opportunities on offense, the team worked together and came away with a Salem win! 🙌

A special shoutout to our Players of the Game:

🛡️ #3 — Defensive Player of the Game
7 steals

⚡ #22 — Offensive Player of the Game
2 assists

Proud of the way these boys continue to compete for one another, grow together, and put in the work. Way to go, Salem!

From reading plans to learning proper techniques and putting those skills into practice, every project is an opportunity to develop confidence, responsibility, and practical skills they can carry with them beyond the wood shop.

This is why we focus on Vocations at Salem4Youth. Every project is an opportunity to learn something new, work hard, and grow.
