Three Edessa School of Fashion students and a faculty member joined our multimedia art director, Leonardt Horák at NYFW to attend and work the Elena Velez YR009 | SMITE show. They were also supporting his fashion photography debut. Let’s just say that they were all successful and embarked upon the experience of a lifetime.

Our students not only read about amazing designers, they also experience their work in person! This past week while in NYC, Edessa students not only experienced the Elena Velez, NYFW show, they also took in this unbelievable exhibit at The Brooklyn Museum! They were able to bask in the aura of Iris Van Herpen while being close enough to see her construction techniques. If you are in NY anytime soon, you must take it in!

Five members of the Edessa School of Fashion family left this morning for the experience of a lifetime! Elena Velez has offered us the opportunity to not only attend her CFDA presentation during NYFW, but to work backstage and photograph the show. We are so excited to share this experience with our emerging designers and marketing professionals. They will get a real glimpse into the fashion world as most students watch from the sidelines. Edessa School of Fashion wishes to express our gratitude to Dr. Sabrina Jackson , for her dedication to the arts and fashion. As a psychologist and businesswoman in Detroit, Michigan, she decided to support the only global majority run fashion college in the USA, in the most meaningful way possible. She put her money where her mouth was!

Dr. Sabrina singlehandedly sponsored the Black Arts Festival, Fashion and Hair design competitions, supporting the students and faculty of Edessa School of Fashion along with appreciation for professional designers in the public. She truly believes in culture before conflict, and drew a line in the sand for future supporters.

The students and faculty of Edessa look forward to a longstanding relationship with “The People Expert” going forward. We have a great deal to learn from her expertise in generosity, flexibility and kindness. Thank You Dr. Sabrina, from the bottoms of our hearts!!
