Rescue can be so bittersweet when you receive a email from a previous adopter when they had to say goodbye. Tonight the skies will light up with a brand new shining star. 🌟 RIP Shadow, gone but never forgotten.
We adopted Shadow (Monkee) from you in the fall of 2011. He was a rescue from Bakersfield. We are so grateful to have loved and cared for him. After a full lifetime of hikes and adventures, he passed away peacefully in our home yesterday with the help of a vet from Restful Paws. He battled IBD successfully for years, but we ran out of options and at 15, we could not put him through more extreme treatment options. His advanced arthritis was also making him uncomfortable.
Shadow remained his goofy, loving, and awkward self for all of his years. We could not have loved him any more and are gutted but so grateful for the time we had with him. We took him to Crissy Field yesterday morning - enjoy the pics of his last adventure.
Thank you for rescuing him and nursing him back to health so we could adopt him ❤️.
