All-County Public Safety meeting to bring thoughts and processes together to ensure all agencies are on the same Public Safety page.

Gilmer County Fire & Rescue and Ellijay Fire Department combined their talents this afternoon at Ellijay Primary School to exhibit the Fire Safety House donated last week by Cherokee County Fire Rescue.

Children from two Primary School classes were the very first to experience the instruction and benefits of Firefighters from both the City and the County. Their instruction included how to recognize the onset of fire (using simulated smoke), checking for hot doors, yelling to Firefighters where they are, properly descending stairs, exiting the building, and gathering at their predetermined meeting place.

While the Fire Safety class was going on, the other half of each class had a chance to tour Engine 1, getting the opportunity to see and hear about our various firefighting and extrication tools. There were many good questions, and lots of smiles throughout each exercise.

We continue to extend our heartfelt Thank You to Cherokee County Fire Rescue for their thoughtfulness and generous donation to our County.
