LGBT Asylum Task Force 🌈⛪ Dedicated nonprofit ministry supporting the new beginnings and rights of LGBTQ asylum seekers in the U.S.

through housing, financial aid, legal connections, mentorship, and emotional support. The Le***an, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Asylum Task Force is a community-based organization of volunteers dedicated to supporting and empowering LGBT individuals who are seeking asylum or refuge in the United States. Founded in June 2008, our founding goal and continuing mission is to support the basic

human needs of LGBT people seeking asylum in the United States. We strive to provide/find/facilitate: housing, food, clothing, resources (ex. health care, psychological care, faith communities), cellphones (vital for contact with lawyers & family), and transportation. Our secondary goal is to educate the public in an effort to change policy around the globe so that someday no LGBT person will need to seek asylum because of their sexual orientation or gender identity and the need to find a safe place. Task Force volunteers have raised money and sourced donations to support more than 100 individuals during their asylum-seeking process.

🚨 DISCOUNTED TICKETS ON SALE

🌈 Join us Saturday, October 10, 2026 from 5:30–11pm at Worcester's Mechanics Hall for an evening of fundraising, community, and meaningful resistance alongside asylum seekers, volunteers, and supporters.

🫂 In this moment when LGBTQ rights, immigrant rights, and the right to asylum access are under attack, we choose to persist in our duty to protect LGBTQ asylum seekers.

✊🏾 This year marks 10 years of uplifting the voices and highlighting the struggles of LGBTQ asylum seekers at our annual Gala. We gather in solidarity with LGBTQ immigrants and asylum seekers under this year’s theme, We Persist.

A divided federal appeals court on Friday rejected President Donald Trump’s effort to unilaterally bar migrants who cross the US-Mexico border from seeking asylum, teeing up a likely showdown over the policy at the Supreme Court.

LET ASYLUM SEEKERS WORK

The rights to asylum and work permits are under attack ... again.

They have proposed changes to work permit access for asylum seekers that will make them more vulnerable to various forms of exploitation. These will come into effect after April 24, 2026.

It's an uphill climb, but we are hopeful that we can stop them before they do more harm to the community.

About 100 folks attended our recent community town hall with U.S. Representative Congressman Jim McGovern. They heard directly from asylum seekers, the congressman, and attorney Randy Feldman (Law Office of Randy Feldman) about the impact of the proposed changes and how we could fight back.

Folks walked away from the town hall with two things: a renewed drive to speak up for those whose voices might not reach as far, and hope from the groundswell of support from others ready to join us in this fight.

You are needed to call members of Congress, comment on the Federal Register website, and continue to spread the word. Can we count on you?
