Voice for Companion Animals VCA is a nonprofit rescue and community support organization helping pets and the people who love them. VCA’s mission is to keep pets in their home.

From rescue and adoption to pet food assistance, emergency vet help, and spay/neuter support, we’re committed to compassionate solutions. Voice for Companion Animals (VCA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in Grand Island, Nebraska. We work with seniors, and provide AniMeals, for those on the Meals on Wheels program, and we assist in providing pet food to the local pet food pantry. We

🚨 New Guy Alert! 🚨

Meet our newest little gentleman...Tiny.....a 5-year-old Shih Tzu who apparently skipped the "calm and dignified" chapter of the breed handbook. 😆

This little guy has two great loves in life:
🍗 Food.
🏃 Being a BusyBody.

If you have snacks, congratulations—you've just become his new best friend...but watch your fingers! And don't let those short legs fool you...he has enough energy to keep everyone entertained.

This afternoon he'll be heading to a foster home where we'll learn more about his personality, likes, dislikes, and what kind of forever home will be the perfect fit for him.

For now, let's give him a warm VCA welcome! ❤️ We have a feeling he's going to keep us smiling.

(And if anyone has treats...he'd like to remind you he's accepting donations. 😉)

🎆 FIREWORKS SEASON STARTS JUNE 28 IN GRAND ISLAND 🎆

While many people enjoy fireworks, our pets often experience them very differently. Loud noises, flashing lights, and unfamiliar smells can cause extreme stress and fear.

Here are a few ways to help keep your pets safe this fireworks season:

🐾 Leave pets at home
Fireworks displays are not pet-friendly events. Your pet is safest in the comfort of their own home, away from crowds, loud noises, and the risk of getting lost.

🏠 Create a safe space
Set up a quiet room with blinds closed, a TV or calming music playing, and favorite toys or treats available. This can help block out frightening sights and sounds.

🎇 Keep pets away from fireworks
Never bring pets near fireworks or allow them access to used firework debris. Fireworks can cause serious injuries and leftover materials can be toxic if chewed or ingested.

💊 Talk to your veterinarian
If your pet has severe anxiety during fireworks, contact your veterinarian before the holiday. There are medications and other options that can help reduce fear and stress.

🏷️ Check identification
Make sure your pet is wearing a collar with current ID tags and that their microchip information is up to date. Many pets become frightened and escape during fireworks season.

Every year, shelters and rescues see an increase in lost pets around the Fourth of July. A little preparation now can help keep your furry family members safe at home.

And honestly, we don't understand why.

He's young. He's handsome. He's got a goofy personality and a beloved purple dinosaur that he proudly carries around like it's his most prized possession. 💜🦖

Dale enjoys the simple things in life:
☀️ Sunny days
🌿 Sniffing every blade of grass
❤️ Spending time with people
🧸 Carrying around his favorite stuffy

At just over a year old, he's past the tiny puppy stage but still has all the fun, curiosity, and adventure ahead of him.

The right home for Dale is one without cats 🚫🐱 and with people who are ready for a loyal companion to share life's adventures.

Every day, Dale wakes up hoping today will be the day someone comes for him.

Through the Spay/Neuter – GI program, Voice for Companion Animals has assisted in neutering 16 male cats so far since the program began in September 2025.

An unneutered male cat can father 800 to 3,200 kittens annually. By preventing these cats from reproducing, our program may help prevent 12,800 to 51,200 kittens from being born.

While female cats physically give birth to litters, male cats are capable of breeding with numerous females throughout the year. That's why neutering males is just as important in reducing pet overpopulation.

Since launching the Spay/neuter - GI program in September of 2025, Voice for Companion Animals has helped alter 70 dogs and cats. Of the 70, 23 were female cats. Since an unspayed female cat can produce an average of 12 to 18 kittens each year, these surgeries alone may prevent 276 to 414 kittens from being born annually. That's hundreds of animals who won't face homelessness, overcrowded shelters, or uncertain futures. Sometimes the biggest impact isn't measured by the animals we rescue today, but by the suffering we prevent tomorrow.

🎤✨ Tiny Tina Turner Update! ✨🎤

Just days ago, this tiny girl arrived with her eyes matted shut from an untreated infection.

Today?

She's busy grooming herself and making sure every hair is perfectly in place for her adoring fans. 💁‍♀️🐾

It appears Teeny Tiny Tina Turner has officially entered her diva era.

After all, when you're preparing for a world tour, you have to look your best.

We're so grateful to her finder for refusing to give up on her, and to foster mom Beckie for helping this little superstar heal and thrive.

Now if you'll excuse Tina, she has important kitten business to attend to... including eating snacks, taking naps, and maintaining her fabulous coat.

🎶 She's simply the best... better than all the rest! 🎶

🍿 Friday Night Feature: Meet Hadley! 🐾

If your perfect Friday night includes a little dog curled up beside you on the couch, then we'd like to introduce you to Hadley.

This adorable one-year-old Chihuahua is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to find his forever family. His foster mom describes him as "darn near perfect"—and we believe her!

Like many Chihuahuas, Hadley takes a little time to warm up to new people, but once he does, he's a sweet, loving companion. The best part? He's not snarky, he's not bitey, and he gets along wonderfully with both cats and dogs.

Just look at that photo and try not to fall in love. ❤️

🎤 BREAKING NEWS: After a brief medical leave, Teeny Tiny Tina Turner has returned to the stage.

Her first concert was held atop Stella's food bowl and featured a 45-minute set consisting entirely of songs about food arriving too slowly.

Critics described the performance as "surprisingly loud for someone weighing less than a packet of sugar."

🎤❤️ Meet Teeny Tiny Tina Turner ❤️🎤

When this tiny girl was found, her eyes were matted shut from a severe infection. She is only about 4 weeks old, sick and scared.... and was in desperate need of help.

Thankfully, her finder refused to give up.

After being turned away elsewhere, they kept searching until they found someone willing to say "yes." Tina arrived at Voice for Companion Animals looking pretty rough, but after gently cleaning her eyes, we're hopeful that her vision can be saved.

And while her eyes may have been closed, her vocal cords were working just fine.

This little lady has a voice that would make the real Tina Turner proud. She has already informed us—loudly and repeatedly—that she has opinions about meal times, being left alone, and just about everything else.

Right now, she looks like a tiny fluff ball with a big attitude. But beneath that messy coat is a stunning dilute tortie whose colors will only become more beautiful as she heals and grows.

A few weeks from now, people will see an adorable kitten.

We'll see a fighter.

We'll see the kitten whose finder wouldn't give up on her.

We'll see the tiny survivor who came in with her eyes sealed shut but never lost her voice.
