WARRIOR WEDNESDAY
Meet our heart warrior, Laurel 💜
Laurel is a strong, brave little girl with a smile that can light up a room. She has faced more in her young life than most people ever will, yet continues to meet each day with courage, determination, and a joyful spirit that inspires everyone around her. She loves to dance and sing, and we are blown away by how incredibly smart she is considering the rough beginning she had.
Laurel was born with complex congenital heart disease and has undergone multiple open heart surgeries, catheterizations, procedures, hospitalizations, and countless appointments ❤️🩹 Her original diagnosis began as aortic stenosis and has since led to two valve replacements, a Ross procedure, additional surgeries, and even a blood infection. Through it all, she continues to fight with incredible strength and resilience.
Laurel is funny, spirited, stubborn in the best way, and full of personality. She loves making people laugh, spending time with her brothers, playing, exploring, and finding joy in the little things. She has a way of bringing light into even the hardest days. ☀️
One milestone we're especially proud of is watching her become mobile. From learning to sit on her own to scooting around, it has been so much fun to watch. You can see how proud she is of herself for how far she has come. We also cherish the simple moments when she gets to sing, dance, play, laugh, and just be our daughter. Every ordinary moment feels extraordinary.
To the heart moms still in the thick of it: the journey is hard, messy, beautiful, and exhausting all at once. Celebrate every victory, no matter how small, and know that you're never alone. Our heart warriors are stronger than we could have ever imagined, and they teach us every day what courage really looks like. 🫶 - @
