Missed the first class, last Thursday? No worries—you can still join us!

Our new Adult Acting Class with Mindy Young continues this Thursday, and there’s still time to jump in for the six-week series. Over the course of the class, you’ll explore theatre games, acting exercises, movement, voice work, and short scenes—all in a fun, welcoming space where you can try something new, get creative, and connect with others.

Whether you've always wanted to try acting or you're simply looking for a fun way to step outside your comfort zone, come play with us. No previous acting experience required!

🏳️‍🌈 NATIONAL COMING OUT DAY - OCTOBER 11 🏳️‍🌈

There is no one way to come out. There is no right time. And there is no requirement to do it at all.

For some, coming out can be a joyful moment of finally being known as their full selves. For others, it can be complicated, scary, gradual, or something they choose not to do.

Today, on National Coming Out Day, we celebrate those who have shared their identities, those who are still figuring out what feels right for them, and those who simply know themselves—even if they haven't shared that part of themselves with anyone else.

However you show up, you deserve to feel valued, affirmed, and supported. 💜

And to everyone who has ever been trusted with someone else's coming-out story: thank you for being a safe place for them to land.

You don't have to come out to belong here. 🏳️‍🌈

🧠💜 WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY - Oct. 10

Being heard matters. But real change happens when people with lived experience have a meaningful role in shaping the support, services, and decisions that affect their lives.

For LGBTQIA+ people, feeling safe enough to share our experiences—and being met with understanding rather than judgment—can make a meaningful difference. Our stories are not all the same, and no one person can speak for everyone. That’s why listening, making room for different perspectives, and including people in decisions that affect them are so important.

This year’s World Mental Health Day theme established by the World Health Organizations “Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change,” reminds us that listening is just the beginning. We must also make sure people’s voices help shape what happens next.

At the Utah Pride Center, we believe everyone deserves spaces where they can connect, feel affirmed, and know they belong. 💜

Today and every day, let’s listen with care, make room for every story, and turn understanding into action.

Halloween is getting closer, the nights are getting darker, and we’re ready to settle in for another night of horror at the UPC.

Join us next Friday for our monthly 21+ Horror Movie Social Club at the Utah Pride Center and a cozy night of scares, laughs, and community.

Bring your favorite blanket, pillow, bean bag, or sleeping bag and get comfortable for a surprise horror double feature.

Every month brings a new theme inspired by seasonal holidays, cultural celebrations, iconic filmmakers, or classic horror—and October is the perfect excuse to go all in on the spooky. You never know what creepy classics, cult favorites, or hidden gems might be waiting for you…
