Tennessee State Veterans’ Homes are top-rated skilled nursing facilities with four locations across the State of Tennessee.

Dedicated to serving Tennessee’s veterans, spouses/widows and Gold Star Parents with long and short-term nursing home level care, all locations offer customized care plans, veteran camaraderie and VA financial assistance to eligible veterans. TSVH offers short-term rehabilitation and long-term care options for honorably discharged veterans, veteran spouses, and Gold Star parents. The facilities ar

We’re still celebrating after an incredible week at the THCA Conference in Nashville!

It is always special to gather with others who share a passion for long-term care, but it is even more meaningful when we get to watch members of our own TSVH family be recognized for the heart, dedication and excellence they bring to their work every single day.

⭐ Charissa Walden, Pharmacy/QA/IP at TSVH Clarksville

Their commitment to continuing their education and growing in their careers is something worth celebrating, and we are excited to see all they continue to accomplish!

We also send a HUGE congratulations to Tina Barnes, MDS Coordinator at TSVH Murfreesboro, who was named the Nashville District THCA Caregiver of the Year! Tina was recognized alongside outstanding Caregiver of the Year recipients from five other districts across Tennessee.

Now, we’ll be cheering her on as THCA’s PR Committee selects the statewide winner in October. We may be a little biased, but we already know what an incredible caregiver Tina is—and we think Tennessee should know it, too! 😉

A sweet treat with a side of nostalgia!

A big THANK YOU to Bently Home Inspection for bringing their incredible Ice Cream Tractor to Tennessee State Veterans’ Homes – Knoxville!

Our residents enjoyed delicious ice cream while getting an up-close look at the unique John Deere-powered setup. Even better than the treats were the conversations, memories, and smiles it sparked among our Veterans.

We are so grateful for community partners who take the time to create special moments for those who served our country. Thank you, Bently Home Inspection, for making our day a little sweeter!

Nothing says summer like a day at the Tennessee State Fair

Last week, residents and team members from Tennessee State Veterans’ Homes – Murfreesboro headed to Wilson County for a day packed with fair food, colorful sights, plenty of laughs and wonderful memories.

From enjoying some classic corn on the cob and taking in all the excitement of the midway to meeting a few larger-than-life characters and making new friends along the way, there was something fun around every corner!

But the best part wasn’t the food, rides or attractions — it was spending the day together. These outings give our residents the opportunity to get out into the community, enjoy new experiences and simply have a great time with the staff who care so much about them.

Judging by these smiles, we’d say the fair was a blue-ribbon kind of day! 🏆🎟️

And speaking of our incredible team, we’re excited to celebrate another statewide 3% pay increase for TSVH staff! It’s another meaningful investment in the dedicated employees who bring compassion, energy and heart to our Veterans each and every day.

A huge thank you to our TSVH Murfreesboro team members who helped make this outing possible — and who make moments like these possible all year long. Great care starts with great people, and we’re proud to have some of the very best.

An Honor We Won’t Soon Forget

Tennessee State Veterans’ Home – Knoxville was deeply honored to welcome Bill Robinson, a true American hero whose remarkable story of courage, resilience, and faith left a lasting impression on our residents and staff.

On September 20, 1965, while serving in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, Robinson’s rescue helicopter was shot down over North Vietnam. He was captured and would spend an unimaginable 2,703 days as a prisoner of war—making him the longest-held enlisted POW in American history.

His story is one of extraordinary sacrifice, perseverance, and devotion to our country. But what made his visit especially meaningful was the opportunity for our own Veterans to spend time with someone whose experiences represent such an important chapter in our nation’s history.

Mr. Robinson, thank you for visiting our Knoxville Home, for sharing your story, and—above all—for your service and sacrifice. It was our privilege to welcome you and an honor to have you among fellow Veterans. ❤️🤍💙

Some visits become memories. Others become part of the story of our Home. This was one of them.

Fire up the grill for some of Tennessee's Finest Heroes!

Grillfest 2026 is coming to Bailey Park in Humboldt on October 23–24, 2026, and we are so excited for this incredible fundraiser benefiting Tennessee State Veterans’ Homes – Humboldt!

This fun-filled event will bring the community together for a weekend of competition, great food, and support for our veterans. Funds raised will help purchase meaningful items for our facility and residents, like a new projector and projector screen for movie nights, or maybe new water fountains with water bottle filling stations for residents and staff, and so much more to enhance daily life in our home.

A very special thank you to Larry Alford, a previous short-term rehabilitation resident, for organizing this incredible fundraiser and giving back in such a meaningful way. Your support means so much to our residents, staff, and families.

A huge THANK YOU to DAV Chapter 71 for giving one of our residents’ favorite fall traditions a serious upgrade!

Our residents love taking golf cart rides around the beautiful neighboring VA property—especially when the cooler weather and fall colors arrive. This year, those rides will be even more special thanks to the incredible generosity and hard work of DAV Chapter 71, who completely refurbished our golf cart.

The before-and-after photos say it all—they truly outdid themselves! What may look like a golf cart to some represents fresh air, changing leaves, laughter, conversation and a little extra freedom for our Veterans.

We are so grateful for community partners like DAV Chapter 71 who continue to show up for our residents in meaningful ways. Thank you for helping us keep the wheels turning and the smiles coming!

TSVH Knoxville Employee of the Month: Daniel “Dan” Moneymaker

Daniel “Dan” Moneymaker’s story is one of service, resilience and finding purpose.

A 75-year-old U.S. Army Veteran, Dan served as Military Police from 1971–1977. After receiving his draft notice, he chose to enlist, hoping to avoid Vietnam—but the Army had other plans. Dan arrived in Vietnam in 1971.

After leaving the military, Dan continued serving others. He spent time with his local fire department before becoming an EMT. During those years, he married his childhood sweetheart, Kathy, and together they raised three sons. Dan later began a career with the U.S. Postal Service, retiring at age 55.

One of the most meaningful chapters of Dan’s life began during one of his lowest points. While at a VA appointment, he struck up a conversation with the gentleman beside him, who happened to lead the Knoxville chapter of Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, an organization that helps Veterans find connection and healing through fly fishing.

Dan joined the chapter and found something that changed his life. Today, he has tied more than 5,000 flies for new members and has traveled across Tennessee and the country fly fishing. In Dan’s words, Healing Waters saved his life.

In his spare time, Dan enjoys reading and building model cars—anything that keeps his hands busy and his mind engaged. He also attends Sacred Heart Catholic Church and is active with the Knights of Columbus.

Dan’s advice to the next generation says it best:

“Find a mentor and do what they say. I wish I had had a mentor so I wouldn’t have drifted. Find something to ground yourself.”

Dan, thank you for your service, your strength and the ways you continue to encourage other Veterans. We are proud to have you as part of the TSVH Knoxville family.

A day full of history, honor, and a little comfort food!

Our TSVH Cleveland residents loaded up a full bus and headed to downtown Chattanooga for a memorable visit to the Medal of Honor Museum. From the moment we arrived, our Veterans were treated like royalty while exploring the incredible stories of courage, sacrifice, and service preserved there.

After taking in all that history, we worked up an appetite and headed to Puckett’s for a delicious meal and even more great fellowship!

A huge THANK YOU to the wonderful teams at the Medal of Honor Museum and Puckett’s for making our Veterans feel so welcomed, appreciated, and celebrated. ❤️🤍💙

Days like this are about so much more than an outing—they’re about honoring service, sharing stories, making memories, and enjoying time together.
