Center for Independent Living of North Central Florida North Central Florida's Leading Disability Resource Center for over 40 years. The CILNCF is also partnered with Florida Telecommunications and Relay, Inc.

We provide services through partnerships with the Department of Education, the Department of Health, Brain and Spinal Cord Injury Program, as well as the Alachua, Bradford, Citrus, Levy, Marion and Putnam County School Boards. In addition, we are presently the only coordinator of sign language interpreting services for Alachua and surrounding counties and have on staff four highly qualified sign language interpreters. (FTRI) and is the designated Regional Distribution Center (RDC) of specialized telecommunications equipment. With this program the CILNCF provides communication access to people who are deaf, hard of hearing, deaf/blind, and speech-impaired residing in North Central Florida. Further, our organization has developed intensive programming for youth with disabilities. The CILNCF operates a High School High Tech Program at six (6) area high schools in five (5) school district’s here in North Central Florida. High School/High Tech (HS/HT) was developed out of concern that too few students, especially those with disabilities, were being prepared for technology-based careers. Our program is designed to provide young people with all types of disabilities the opportunity to explore jobs and postsecondary education leading to technology-related careers. Locally, it is a community-based partnership made up of students, parents and caregivers, businesses, educators and rehabilitation professionals.

💙 October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM)!

This year's theme, "Celebrating Value and Talent," recognizes the skills, talents, and valuable contributions that people with disabilities bring to workplaces and communities across the country.

At the CIL, we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to pursue meaningful employment, achieve financial independence, and contribute their unique talents to the workforce.

Employment is about more than earning a paycheck. It's about independence, opportunity, personal growth, and having the freedom to build a future of your choosing.

This month, we celebrate workers with disabilities while continuing to advocate for accessible workplaces, equal employment opportunities, and the removal of barriers that prevent individuals with disabilities from reaching their full potential.

Because an inclusive workforce is a stronger workforce, and everyone deserves the opportunity to succeed! 💙

We were proud to be part of this year’s annual ADA Expo, sponsored by the Alachua County Equal Opportunity Office and the City of Gainesville Office of Equity and Inclusion.

The event brought together roughly 70 attendees and 30 vendors for a day centered on accessibility, inclusion, resources, and connection within our community.

CIL staff supported the event in several ways, including hosting an exhibit table, providing sign language interpretation, participating in the panel discussion, and helping facilitate the conversation.

A special thank you to Ken, Kevin, Andrea, Christie, Angela, and Debbie for representing CIL and helping make the event a success!

We’re always grateful for opportunities to connect with our community, share resources, and continue advocating for greater access and inclusion for people with disabilities.

💙 We’ve reached 79% of our Give4Marion goal!

Thanks to your incredible support, the CIL has now raised $1,975, bringing us closer and closer to the finish line!

Every donation helps us continue providing programs, resources, and opportunities that support greater independence for people with disabilities in our community. And every share helps introduce our mission to someone who may be ready to make a difference.

We’re almost there, but we still need your help to finish strong!

If you’ve already donated, please keep sharing our Give4Marion campaign with your friends, family, coworkers, and community. A share, text, email, or conversation could be what helps us close that final gap. 💙
