To honor the 92nd Academy Awards on February 9th, and to kick off the 2020 season we bring you the 1975 winner of this prestigious award, and one of the best films of all time back on the big screen with all the respect a film like this deserves.
The Godfather Part II is the continuing saga of the Corleone crime family that tells the story of a young Vito Corleone growing up in Sicily and in 1910s New York; and follows Michael Corleone in the 1950s as he attempts to expand the family business into Las Vegas, Hollywood and Cuba. This film is produced and directed by Francis Ford Coppola from the screenplay co-written with Mario Puzo, starring Al Pacino and Robert De Niro . It is the second installment in The Godfather Trilogy and considered the best sequel every made . Partially based on Puzo's 1969 novel The Godfather, the film is both sequel and prequel to The Godfather presenting parallel dramas: one picks up the 1958 story of Michael Corleone(Pacino), the new Don of the Corleone Family, protecting the family business in the aftermath of an attempt on his life; the prequel covers the journey of his father, Vito Corleone (De Niro), from his Sicilian childhood to the founding of his family enterprise in New York City.
