Dear friends,

Yes, as sung by Paul McCartney, we believe in Yesterday - it's an amazingly beautiful song. However, yesterday is gone and here at the Center for Spiritual Living Central Texas, we believe in today! After all, as Ernest Holmes taught us, "Let us make up our minds that yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet arrived. But today can be filled with wonder if we know that we stand on the threshold of that which is wonderful and new." The present moment is essential for spiritual power and creation, and that is what we are committed to. Come join us!

As many of you already know, we are changing our start time for the Sunday Celebration by 30 minutes earlier now. Meditation will begin at 10 and our main gathering will begin at 10:30.

Look Longer

“It is looking at things for a long time
that ripens you and gives you a deeper meaning.”
- Vincent Van Gogh -

How often I’ve looked at something for the umpteenth time only to see it in a completely different way? Where did THAT come from? Why was this perspective so elusive?

The perspective didn’t consciously avoid my detection. The delay or denial of it was on my side of the observation equation. Obscured by my assumptions or impatience to come to a conclusion about it and confirm my beliefs.

I consider Van Gogh looking at the same subject day in and day out only to eventually realize the uniqueness he sought to convey. It was there all along.

That same uniqueness is in everything and everyone when we release our need to hurry and our rush to define according to our preferences and assumptions.

Spend an extra moment today looking at things and people and receive the gift of deeper awareness that serves you both and that you can bring with you into your next encounter.

Expand Your Curiosity

“The height of your life will be limited
by the depth of your thinking.
Think bigger thoughts expect bigger things.”
- Jim Rohn -

Someone asked, ‘can changing my thinking really change my life?’ The short answer is yes, and it’s yes for a lot of reasons.

The paramount reason is that our awareness and understanding of Life is a structure of reasoning that creates our paradigm and our identity.

Which are based upon previous experiences and observations of the experiences of others, we construct a system of beliefs that help us rationalize what is and be more successful at guessing what is most likely to happen next.

All additions or alterations to that structure start as a single thought returned to often enough and infused with enough energy to grow into a new belief. As we change a single part, the entire structure is altered.

Now when we view and interpret our experience of Life and what is available to us here and now, that interpretation is changed, our belief in our capability is changed, our expectations are changed, and so our effort and next experience are changed.

So expanding our curiosity in any direction, opens us to believe more and to try and learn more. Which again, shifts everything after.

Dear Friends,

We've been waiting for this day for quite some time now as Beatles month used to be during the summer. However, this year, we pushed it later toward the fall. We realized that many of our members are on vacation in the summer months. With the amazing music and musicians, along with the great messages from Rev. Walt based on Beatles songs, we thought we'd wait! We are excited to share this with you so please consider joining in the fun! We are live this Sunday, always starting off our series with the wonderful Darin Murphy (who played John Lennon on Broadway!)

Furthermore, PLEASE NOTE...

Nonsense

“The older you get, the more quiet you become. Life humbles you so deeply as you age. You realize how much nonsense you've wasted time on.” ― Dianerste Ross

I observed myself getting all worked up about something that I had been told was important only to realize that it was really nonsense. Just a collective distraction from what really matters and what I can actually do something about.

That’s not the first time and it probably won’t be the last, but the awareness helps bring my allocation of resources back to being constructive instead of reactive.

Perhaps that is yet another benefit of aging – to have more data to reference, a greater appreciation of resource allocation and a greater awareness of Cause and Effect.

The true power in Life is recognizing and interrupting repetitive patterns that no longer serve me and those around me. Then recalibrating my contribution to the collective mix to the highest and best I am and I have.

Hello dear friends,

Rev. Walt wrote beautifully about it. We must keep our hearts open and our resolve strong to live fully and freely in each and every moment.

So, perhaps you will join us in an open-hearted moment this weekend at our Center. We would love to see you there and celebrate this one beautiful life with which we have been gifted.

How to Remember

It was twenty five years ago today that our country was attacked. Not the first time, and unfortunately, not the last, as a lot of people still live from a paradigm of an ego need for vengeance to feel power or relevance.

As with all the rest of our life, what and how it happened can never be changed so it must not be necessary to live fully and freely in this moment. How I choose to remember it, where I allow my mind to go, what expectations I energize, all that influences my experience of this moment.

Like any other day, there are people celebrating the start of new chapters of their life. There are others putting the finishing touches on the closing sentences of that chapter. Still others unsure of what to choose, but choice is our point of power.

The beauty of living this life is that we gain perspective, awareness and understanding along the way that helps us process and navigate the present.

If there are still things that need to be changed, then allocate resources to facilitate that change. If there is something still to be contributed in our unique way, then find ways to contribute and share that.

I choose to remember the immediate response of connection, kindness and a big shift in priorities. No, it didn’t last, but it gave us a taste, a glimpse of what is always available. And once we do and experience anything, we can do and experience it again.
