Triple R Horse Rescue Tallahassee We rescue physically or psychologically abused, neglected, troubled or abandoned equines in North Florida and South Georgia. We accept all types of horses.

Triple R is an all-volunteer organization. We work with law enforcement and animal control officers in a six-county area around Tallahassee, in Florida's Panhandle. (If a stallion needs help we will find somewhere to house him where he can be gelded and then transferred to one of our growing network of foster homes).

FEEL GOOD FRIDAY!

Check out this amazing update on the sorrel mare we helped to rehome 🎉

A few months ago, this mare’s previous family reached out to us with heavy hearts. Due to medical and financial hardships, they could no longer care for her.

We worked hard to find her the perfect match, and just look at her now! We received this fantastic update from her new owner, and our hearts are so full.

She will be riding in the Bonifay Rodeo Parade next weekend!

Please join us in wishing this special mare and her new family the very best!

Sometimes the right horses find each other at just the right time.

Our Paso Fino foster, Buddy, has officially settled into his new foster home with the Vollmer family, and the timing couldn’t have been more meaningful.

Earlier this month, the Vollmers’ horse, Blaze, had to say goodbye to his companion of 21 years, Choco. Anyone who knows horses knows how deeply herd mates grieve, and Blaze was truly heartbroken without his longtime friend.

Seeing Blaze's sadness, Dr. Bevis recommended that Pam reach out to Triple R Horse Rescue to see if we had a horse that might help fill that empty space.

Enter Buddy!

Blaze (who might just be the tallest Paso Fino on the planet!) was visibly relieved the moment Buddy stepped off the trailer.

And after a few gentle nose-to-nose greetings across the fence, the two were already relaxing and hanging out together like old friends.

A huge thank you to the Vollmers for opening their hearts and pastures to Buddy, and to Dr. Bevis for connecting our rescue with a horse in need of comfort. Foster homes make happy endings like this possible.

Swipe through to see Buddy settling in and sharing some quiet first moments with his new buddy, Blaze! 🐴❤️

Swipe through to see the numbers behind equine rescue 👉

Rehabilitating an equine goes above and beyond providing shelter. It also includes specialized veterinary care, safe acreage, tailored nutrition, and months (sometimes even years) of dedicated patience.

As a 100% volunteer-run nonprofit, the dollars we receive goes straight into the feed trough, the medicine chest, and the pasture. You are the safety net that keeps these horses fed, healed, and protected.

With so many appeals on social media, doing your due diligence is essential. The United Horse Coalition l recently shared a comprehensive guide on "How to Identify a Reputable Equine Rescue or Sanctuary."

Our supporters have asked where we stand regarding the ongoing management of wild horses across public lands in the American West.

At Triple R Horse Rescue Tallahassee, our mission has always been grounded in one fundamental principle: the compassionate care and welfare of equines.

The Current Reality:
Managing free-roaming herds on shared public rangelands involves fragile ecosystems, limited water, and competing land uses. Currently, tens of thousands of wild horses live on Western ranges, while thousands more reside in off-range holding facilities.

Where We Stand on Solutions:
We believe in sustainable, science-backed, and non-lethal herd management. That means:
- Expanding humane fertility control: Utilizing proven on-range methods (like PZP immunocontraceptives) to stabilize herd numbers without relying primarily on gathers and roundups.
- Safe handling and transparency: Ensuring that any necessary gathers adhere strictly to welfare standards and prioritize animal safety.
- Promoting adoption & training: Increasing support for wild horse adoption programs, foster networks, and training initiatives that transition gathered horses into safe forever homes.

How You Can Help:
- Stay Informed: Learn how federal range lands are managed through the BLM Herd Management Portal and read about humane management initiatives via Return to Freedom Wild Horse Facts.
- Support Equine Adoption: Whether a wild Mustang or a domestic horse at one of our foster homes in North Florida and South Georgia, opening your heart to a rescue changes a life.
- Keep the Conversation Constructive: True advocacy starts with understanding the science and working together for the horses.

Thank you for standing with us for the protection, dignity, and care of ALL equines 🤎🐎
