Long-term survivors of the AIDS crisis watched their friends die because the government looked the other way, then built the organizations and infrastructure that kept them alive when no one else would. Now Mayor Lurie is proposing millions in cuts to HIV prevention, sexual health, harm reduction, and LGBTQ community services - at the exact moment the Trump administration is defunding programs and attacking these communities from the federal level. These survivors know what happens when funding disappears; they've buried the consequences. They are asking Mayor Lurie and the Board of Supervisors to stand with them: find revenue solutions and refuse to dismantle programs they fought decades to build. San Francisco has always been a sanctuary for the LGBTQ community - now is the time to prove it. Show up. Speak out. Fight back.
