Tardigrades, also known as waterbears, are the toughest animals on the planet. They can survive freezing temperatures, cosmic rays, and even the vacuum of space! This is despite (and because) they’re tiny, with the largest adults measuring 0.02 inches long. You can bring home a (relatively) massive hatchling from our museum store!

Camels originated in North America about 44 million years ago. Around 6.5 million years ago, a population crossed into Eurasia & later evolved into modern day camels. Two camel species once lived in Nevada. We have 3 of their bones on display, and some cuddly friends for sale at the museum store!

It’s National Fire Prevention Week! While it’s always better to stop fires before they start, if things do get out of control you’re in good hands. The Fallon/Churchill Volunteer Fire Department was the nation’s first volunteer fire department to receive an ISO Class 1 Rating, which they’ve maintained over 30 years.
