Today is V-J Day, which celebrates Allied victory over Japan and the end of WWII. Come see our World Wars exhibit to learn more about how this conflict affected our community.

On this day in 1928, Boy Scout troops placed concrete markers like this one all along the Lincoln Highway, which stretched from the Atlantic to the Pacific and passed right through Churchill County. Come to our museum and see this one in commemoration!

Today is National Diatomaceous Earth Day. If you’ve never heard of this chalky white material, it’s made of diatoms: microscopic aquatic organisms with silicon shells. We’ve got significant deposits in Churchill County, especially near Hazen, some of which are rich in fossils!

If you haven’t stopped by our booth at the Cantaloupe Festival, today is your last chance! Come see us in the Rafter 3C. We’re still making rope and for this final day we’re also making chickens. Be sure to stop by!

If you’re looking for a bit of cool and quiet today, stop by the museum! We’ve done a little work on our garden area, repairing or replacing pieces which had gotten a bit worse for wear, and would love to have you come check it out!

We’re just about ready for the Cantaloupe festival… are you? Come visit us in the mezzanine of the Rafter 3C Friday through Sunday to make a rope and enjoy our craft of the day!

August is National Crayon Month. If you haven’t been to our Discovery Room to color, come give it a shot! Visitors of all ages are welcome to express themselves.
