🐐 Meet some of the goats of Sanctuary One! 🌿

Did you know there are more than 200 recognized domestic goat breeds around the world?

Learn more about goats with some of our favorite fun facts!

🐐 Goats have rectangular pupils, which give them a broad field of vision and help them keep watch on their surroundings while they browse.

🌿 Goats are browsers and naturally enjoy leaves, shrubs, woody plants and other vegetation—so reaching for a tasty branch is very much goat behavior!

🧠 They’re intelligent, curious and quick learners. Some even figure out how to open gate latches. 😅

🍃 Like other ruminants, goats have a four-compartment stomach that helps them digest fibrous plants.

🧗 And yes, they’re excellent climbers! Some goats can jump more than five feet high and will stand on their hind legs to reach branches.

At Sanctuary One, getting to know animals as individuals is part of the experience. Different sizes, markings, ears, horns and personalities make each goat unique in our goat herd. 💚

🐝 BUZZING WITH PURPOSE! 🌼🦋

Did you know some of the hardest workers at Sanctuary One are also the tiniest? Meet the pollinators hanging out in our garden! 💛

Our pollinator habitat is planted to create a welcoming place for bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects to find food, shelter, and plenty of reasons to stick around.

🌻 Why are pollinators such a big deal?

🐝 They help flowering plants reproduce by carrying pollen from bloom to bloom.

🍓 Many of the fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds we enjoy depend on animal pollinators.

🦋 Pollinator-friendly habitats help support biodiversity and healthier ecosystems.

🌱 Even a small patch of pollinator-friendly plants can make a difference!

And here’s the coolest part: our pollinator habitat is a living classroom. It gives visitors a chance to see firsthand how plants, insects, animals, people, and the environment are all connected. 🌎

Creating pollinator-friendly spaces is one small way we can make a BIG difference. By planting diverse flowers, providing habitat, and caring for the land with intention, we’re helping support the incredible creatures responsible for pollinating much of the food and plant life we depend on.

It’s all part of the natures cycle and Sanctuary One’s mission: healthy soil → healthy plants → healthy animals → healthy people → healthy communities. 💚

Book a tour and see who’s buzzing around. 👀🐝

🐾 A heartfelt thank you to Siskiyou Veterinary Hospital🐾

Sanctuary One is incredibly grateful to the management team at Siskiyou Veterinary Hospital for generously stepping forward to sponsor veterinary care for one of the cats recently rescued from a large-scale seizure and now beginning their journey toward recovery.

When animals arrive at Sanctuary One after experiencing neglect or trauma, veterinary care is often one of the most critical—and costly—parts of helping them heal. Support like this allows us to provide the medical attention these animals need while giving them the time, safety, and compassion they deserve.

We are deeply thankful to the entire team at Siskiyou Veterinary Hospital for recognizing a need and choosing to help. Your generosity is directly contributing to an animal's healing and giving them the opportunity for a healthier, brighter future. 💚

From all of us at Sanctuary One—and from one very deserving cat—thank you for being part of their journey to recovery. 🐾

Dear Future Family and/or Adventure Buddy,

I really want to find my forever home!

I've been practicing for you.

I've learned sit. I know shake. I'm incredibly smart, I love learning new things, and if you happen to have treats...well...I'm even more motivated. 😄

My name is Phoebe, and I'm a one-year-old Australian Kelpie mix with a big heart, an even bigger personality, and enough energy to keep up with whatever adventure you've been dreaming about.

Want to hike? Let's go.

Need a running partner? I'm already waiting by the door.

Looking for a dog who's always excited to see you? That's my specialty.

I love to play, especially with other respectful dogs, and I adore my people. Sometimes I'm so excited to be around the humans I love that I can't help but tell everyone about it! That's why I'd do best in a home where I have room to run, play, and just be my joyful self.

What I need isn't complicated.

I need someone who understands that smart dogs need both exercise and purpose. Someone who sees my energy as potential, not a challenge. Someone willing to teach me, laugh with me, explore with me, and love me for exactly who I am.

In return?

You'll get a loyal best friend who's always ready for the next adventure, always happy to see you, and always eager to make you smile.

Maybe we've been waiting for each other all along.

❤️ If you think we might be the perfect match, apply to adopt me through Sanctuary One. https://www.petfinder.com/dog/phoebe-34ce997d-7e35-4012-8400-b2dd9398fa67/or/jacksonville/sanctuary-one-or276/details/

And if you can't adopt, please share my story. My forever family might be just one share away.
