Welcome to Ohio Valley Weather Spotters

We are a team of community volunteers organized and trained in weather tracking, spotting and chasing. When bad weather hits the area the radars can see a lot but spotters on location are needed to see ground level & give Reports so the National Weather Service can give early warning of what is going on as well as to confirm any reports called in to NWS field offices, that’s where we come in our team is trained to recognize multiple red flags that are vital to a quick and accurate report so the public will be alerted with assurance. If damage or injury would hit the area the chase team that deploys is required to have member’s trained in EMS first aid & CPR/AED at minimum on board to assist with injuries. Currently the chase Vehicles are equipped with GPS navigation, GPS tracking via spotter network, Laptop, Internet (Cellular WiFi), Cell communication, Digital Cameras, Live radar, VHF mobile radio Programmed with NOAA radio/MURS channels, Fire Dept.& EMS receive only for areas with roadway blocking and hazards, First Aid CPR equipment, Roadside Hazard Equipment including jumper cables, Search and Rescue equipment, and a Fire Extinguisher. Our membership span includes Meteorologists, Firefighter personnel, Certified Weather spotters, Search & Rescue personnel, Certified EMS, Certified Amateur Radio Operators (HAM Radio), and a wide variety of others. A vast range of experience and knowledge is needed to make an aggressive team and be efficient in our efforts.
