💔 651 DAYS. LET THAT SINK IN. TATUM NEEDS A HERO. 💔
This was one of the hardest videos we’ve had to make because, behind those beautiful eyes, we see a girl who is tired of waiting. A girl who is struggling with shelter life. A girl who is begging for someone to finally give her the life she deserves. 😭🐾
Day in and day out, Tatum’s world looks the same. The same kennel. The same walls. The same routine. She watches the days pass, hoping that today will be the day someone chooses her.
And lately, our girl has been telling us she’s had enough.
She begs for more yard time. She wants more time outside her kennel. And when it’s time to turn around and head back inside, she sometimes lays down during her walks, as if to say, “Please, not yet. Just let me stay out here a little longer.”
💔 Our girl is sad, and we are watching the weight of shelter life take its toll.
Our kennel technicians, the people who see Tatum day in and day out, are beginning to notice her emotional decline. These are the people who care for her, spend time with her, and witness her daily struggles firsthand. Seeing her spirit begin to fade is absolutely tearing at our hearts.
We can give her love. We can take her for walks. We can give her extra time outside whenever possible. We can tell her how special she is and remind her that she hasn’t been forgotten.
But we cannot give her what she needs most.
A HOME. A FAMILY. A LIFE OUTSIDE THESE FOUR WALLS.
Tatum has been waiting at the Humane Society of Adams County for 651 DAYS.
She is just 2 years and 1 month old. Think about that for a moment. Our girl is approximately 760 days old, and she has spent 651 of those days living in a shelter, waiting for someone to see her, choose her, and take her home.
She has spent most of her young life waiting for a family of her own.
How do you put that kind of heartbreak into words?
But here’s what we want you to know about Tatum. She is SO much more than the number of days she has spent here. ❤️
🐾 She absolutely LOVES people and adores human attention.
🛁 She loves bath time and is a very well-behaved girl.
🚶♀️ She enjoys going for walks and exploring the world outside her kennel.
🚗 She travels well and is even a perfect lady at the doctor’s office!
🩸 She once donated blood to help save the life of a beloved companion she had never even met. Imagine that. This girl helped save another dog’s life while still waiting for someone to save hers.
Tatum has so much love to give. She has so much life left to live. She deserves a soft bed, a yard to explore, a person to follow around, and a home where she doesn’t have to watch everyone else leave while she stays behind.
Yes, Tatum has some specific requirements. She would do best as the only dog in the home. Her future family will need to understand and respect her needs. But in return, they will gain a devoted companion who loves her humans with her whole heart.
We know her perfect family is out there. We just need them to find her before another day, another week, or another month passes her by.
We are heartbroken watching this girl struggle. We see the changes. Our kennel techs see them, too. And while we will continue to love her and advocate for her every single day, we desperately want to see her happy again. We want to see her run through her own yard, curl up beside her favorite person, and finally experience the joy of being someone’s dog.
Tatum doesn’t need another person to feel sorry for her. She needs someone willing to change her life. Someone willing to open their home and give her the chance she has been waiting for.
Can you imagine what it would mean to Tatum to walk out those shelter doors and never have to come back? To finally have a family of her own? To know that she was chosen, that she is loved, and that her waiting is finally over?
😭 TATUM NEEDS A HERO. AND SHE NEEDS ONE NOW.

651 days is far too long for any dog to wait for love. Our kennel techs are seeing her spirit fade, and our hearts are breaking. Let’s come together and give Tatum a reason to wag her tail again.
Let’s make her next walk out of this building the one that takes her HOME. 🏡💔🐾
