The Turner Foundation - Since 1958 The Turner Foundation’s mission is to lift people up! These programs are also supplemented with music, art, and dance lessons.

The Village and the Lighthouse have Learning Centers on-site, which provides free after school tutoring programs to all of its tenants. We also have specialty classes in gardening, cooking, nutrition, and wellness. During the summer, we offer a free summer camp for our students to support their needs in their academics, physical activity, and exposing them to experiences they would not otherwise have. Please keep visiting our page to see our progress and see ways you can support!

What does it take to support a neighborhood for the long haul?

At The Turner Foundation, it starts with a holistic approach to community development in Santa Barbara: affordable housing and arts, and support for residents across ages and backgrounds. Since 1958, we’ve grown from serving seniors to investing in youth, families, and economically challenged residents, because stronger neighborhoods are built through connection, stability, and opportunity.

A safe place to land can change everything.

In Santa Barbara, our transitional housing work supports families facing housing insecurity with stable, accessible housing and a path toward rebuilding. It is one part of how we invest in stronger, more connected neighborhoods for youth, families, and residents.

Housing stability matters, and we are committed to creating it where it is needed most.

A week like this is a good reminder that the arts are not extra.

National Arts in Education Week recognizes how creative expression helps young people build creativity, critical thinking, and a sense of belonging. At The Turner Foundation, we see that through Music & Imagination and our commitment to storytelling as a way for youth and families to express themselves and grow.

What does arts education make possible?

During National Arts in Education Week, we’re recognizing the role the arts play in helping young people build creativity, confidence, and a sense of belonging. At The Turner Foundation, that commitment shows up through Music & Imagination and the power of storytelling as a path for expression, connection, and growth.

Labor Day, and the work behind an ordinary day.

Today we’re recognizing the time, skill, and care that keep our communities running, especially the work that often goes unseen. Wishing everyone a safe, restful holiday.

93% of youth in Turner Foundation programs stay involved for three or more years.

That kind of trust grows from real access: free time in professional music studios, quality instruments, and expert instruction through our Music & Imagination program in Santa Barbara.

A gift to TFMI helps expand creative space for young people to build confidence, develop their voice, and grow through Belonging, Empowerment, Achievement, and Thriving. Donate to support TFMI.

$1.3 million for a median home price, and more than $2,500 a month for a two-bedroom.

That’s the reality many Santa Barbara families are facing. When housing costs take more than 30% of a household’s income, stability gets harder to hold onto.

Affordable housing helps meet that pressure with safe, supportive homes, and with youth and family enrichment programs that strengthen neighborhoods over time.

A budgeting workshop can be the difference between feeling stuck and feeling ready.

At our Community Learning Centers, young adults build practical skills for independent living, from financial literacy and job readiness to personal development. Your support helps us keep these workshops going and expand what we offer.

Donate today to help more young adults move toward stable housing, employment, and self-sufficiency.

What does lasting impact look like in Santa Barbara?

For us, it looks like affordable housing communities that offer more than a place to live. Since 1958, The Turner Foundation has worked to provide stable homes for individuals and families facing barriers to housing, while connecting residents to Community Learning Centers, transitional housing programs, and other support that helps build stability over time.

Our communities serve youth, families, seniors, and neighbors experiencing housing insecurity, with a focus on safe housing, stronger connections, and long-term opportunity.
