For the inaugural issue of Peb Li Journal, we're gathering prose, poetry, and reflections on Hmong kinship love and community care. We don't mean love as passing romance. We mean the intergenerational force that sustains us: devotion to family and community, reverence for lineage, and the practices of our cultural care system. It is the love that carried us from the basin of central and southern China, through the mountains of Laos, across the Mekong, and into the place we now call home.

We're seeking personal essays, family profiles, oral histories, and poetry.

Behind every story cloth is a master of craft, memory, and patience. Hmong Museum recognizes and wants to highlight the incredible individuals whose hands shape histories. Featured here from left to right is Chong Chang, Jackie, Nou Vang, and Tshab Her. Their perspective will be included within the exhibition.

Exhibition curation extends far beyond the walls of the gallery. It lives within the community and the shared oral histories that pass from generation to generation.

Capturing firsthand knowledge and personal narratives is a top priority for this upcoming exhibition. By collaborating directly with the artists and makers, Hmong Museum ensures that the final display is accurate, respectful, and rooted in authentic community voices. The photo shows our Project Manager meeting with Tais Shoua, a seller of Hmong Story Cloths at Hmong Village.
