Teenagers in foster care are often talked about as if they are “harder placements.”
But honestly, most teenagers are still looking for exactly what younger children are looking for.
Consistency.
Belonging.
Someone who notices when they are quiet.
Someone who turns up.
Someone who remembers they have a test tomorrow.
Many teens in foster care have experienced instability at the exact point in life where they are trying to figure out who they are becoming.
That is why ordinary family experiences matter so much.
Not perfection. Just connection.
