We made so many amazing connections and gained some valuable information at this years Inclusive Housing Summit with HopeNC. AHFG has just joined the NC Inclusive Housing Coalition where we will collaborate with other organizations across the state. We look forward to creating a network with HopeNC and Habitat Build Independence in 2026 to bring affordable inclusive housing solutions to the I/DD community on the NC Coast!

Thanks to the American Disabilities Act, we’ve had some major victories but there is still much work to do!!

Medicaid is underfunded and does not meet the current needs of people with disabilities and their families. When services are funded, people with disabilities have help to get out of bed in the morning, take their medications, get to work, and participate in their communities. Did you know that almost 711,000 people with disabilities nationwide are on waiting lists for services they are eligible to receive. Some have been on waiting lists for over a decade. The program must be strengthened, not reduced.
