🚨 REMINDER - ORANGE COUNTY EMERGENCY EXERCISE TOMORROW, WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 9

Tomorrow, Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus and the Orange County Department of Emergency Services will conduct a large-scale emergency exercise simulating a significant flooding event across Orange County.

⚠️THIS IS ONLY A TEST.
County departments and emergency response partners working together in the Emergency Operations Center will be on hand to test how we coordinate, communicate, manage resources, and respond during a major emergency.

📱 Residents may also receive a TEST emergency alert as part of the exercise.

Orange County will be testing its Countywide Emergency Alert System during the exercise. Compatible mobile devices within the targeted area may automatically receive the test message - no registration is required.

⚠️ If you receive an emergency alert on September 9 as part of this exercise, THIS IS ONLY A TEST. There is no emergency, and no action is required.

September is National Emergency Preparedness Month, making it the perfect time to test the systems, plans, and partnerships we rely on when a real emergency happens.

The Fire Chiefs Association of Orange County extends our prayers, thoughts and support to the Coldenham Fire Department and the Coldenham Fire District as they recover from the devastating fire at their firehouse this morning.

The loss of a firehouse and it's equipment is like any other house fire. It not only impacts the "family" within a department and their memories, but the entire community it serves and its mutual aid partners. During times like these, the strength of the fire service is found in the support we provide to one another, just like neighbors do for their neighbors that have devastating incidents.

To our brothers and sisters at Coldenham, please know that the Orange County Fire Service stands with you. We wish you strength in the days ahead, and we are ready to assist in any way we can as you begin the road to recovery.

It is with deep sorrow that the Fire Chiefs Association of Orange County announces the passing of Past President Scott S Arciero. Chief Arciero went home to the Almighty Chief on Sunday, June 21, 2026. Chief Arciero was also a Past Chief for the Mechanicstown Fire Department and Past Financial Secretary of the Orange County Volunteer Firefighters Association.

The officers and members of the FCAOCNY keep the Arciero and Mechanicstown FD in our prayers.

Services for Chief Arciero will be on Thursday, June 25, 2-4 and 7-9 at the Cornelius, Dodd & Connell funeral home, 26 Grove St., Middletown, NY
Service will be 11 am Friday, June 26 at the funeral home and burial at Wallkill Cemetery, 160 Midway Rd, Middletown.

It is with deepest sorrow the Fire Chief's Association of Orange County announces the passing of Past President Andrew "Andy" Degraw, past chief of the Cronomer Valley Fire Dept.

It is with deep regret that Cronomer Valley Fire Department announces the passing of Past Chief and life member Andrew DeGraw.

Andy joined the fire department in 2001 and served as chief from 2012-2014.

A wake for Andy will be held at the Cronomer Valley Fire Department at 296 North Plank Road, Newburgh, NY on Sunday, May 17 from 2pm to 6pm, with a firematic service at 5pm and funeral services to follow on Monday.

Please keep the DeGraw family in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate through this difficult time.
