Remember those buns from yesterday? They became burger buns!

In this lesson, participants spend the day operating like a restaurant— taking orders, calling tickets, & working the hot line.

Good job, Tier 2! 🍔🍔🍔

Every great space has a story.

Andrew helped us turn ours into a brand. From shaping the look and feel of our cafe to creating a visual identity that reflects our mission.

We’re incredibly grateful to Andrew for lending his talents to our nonprofit and helping create something that feels uniquely us. Swipe to see some of his work.

One year ago, we opened with a dream of creating opportunities through food, community, and second chances.

Two years ago, we started building that dream.

Today, that dream is growing every day because of all of you.

Join us next week to celebrate or head to our campaign page (in our linktree) to support from afar.

At a time when many nonprofits are facing funding cuts and rising costs, we need to work together more than ever!

We’ve always looked up to and recently had the opportunity to tour their farm and share a beautiful lunch with their team. That visit inspired an idea: using their farm fresh eggs for one of our egg cookery lessons 🥚

When we asked if they had plans for about 60 eggs, they said, “Yes, for you!”

Chef Nate then led our Tier 1 participants through an omelette lesson, ending with a meal everyone could enjoy together.

“This kind of partnership is what keeps our work possible,” says our Executive Director, Ellen.

Thank you, 🥚🍳

You know the pickle episode from Portlandia? Rumor has it that Lannie helped inspire it years ago while teaching a cooking class and confidently declaring that just about anything could be pickled.

Now it’s our turn to jam.

Thank you Lannie for helping lead our jam-making class this Saturday at . We’re excited to make something delicious, introduce more folks to our culinary training program, and bring more people back downtown to America’s first food cart pod.

Also yes, the person (our development director) dramatically acting in this video was recently approached by talent agencies. We’re hoping a few more ticket sales convince her to keep her day job because we’d hate to lose her.

But… in the meantime…Want to win 2 free tickets?

Comment your favorite type of jam and tag 1 friend below. Winner announced Thursday at 5pm. ⭐️🎟️

Imogen graduated from our culinary training program this year and credits her barista skills to both the program and her dad’s obsession with espresso machines.

Since graduating, she’s been working shifts in our cafe and sharing everything she’s learned with our team and community. Imogen is a quick learner with a calm confidence behind the bar.

When asked what advice she would give future students, she said:

“There’s plenty of time to learn and adjust. You can come in with any level of experience and leave with so much more knowledge and confidence.”

We’re so proud to you, Imogen!
