Today was a great day to meet LPN students and faculty at the WV Board for Licensed Professional Nurses!

We were honored to connect with over 30 students, guests, LPN board members, and staff. We enjoyed learning from and supporting students and faculty from Putnam Career & Technical Center and Fayette Institute of Technology, along with faculty from Valley College and Laurel College.

Everyone is excited to join us at Unity Day / Nurses Day at the Capitol on January 26, 2027!

Faculty shared how excited they are to join and to get involved in our advocacy work— and students & faculty were especially thrilled to learn about our program!

This summer, the American Nurses Association (ANA) took a historic step with a landmark vote to allow LPNs and LVNs to become ANA members.

Join WVNA on Tuesday, December 1, at 7 PM for "The Road to LPN Membership," a one-hour webinar exploring the work behind this decision and what it means for nurses in West Virginia and across the country.

Moderated by WVNA's Anny Jenkins-Brewer, the panel will feature Dr. Brad Goettl, Chief Nursing Officer of the American Nurses Enterprise; WVNA's Casey VanScoy and fellow LPN national workgroup members from across the country; and Michelle Chapman, Executive Director of the West Virginia LPN Board. Dr. Goettl will share his career journey from EMT through flight nursing and national leadership, while workgroup members will discuss the experiences and perspectives they brought to the membership conversation.

Together, the panelists will explore how LPN membership can strengthen nursing's shared professional voice and create opportunities for connection, advocacy, and leadership. The discussion will cover next steps for ANA and WVNA membership, with time for audience questions.
