Join us this Sunday, March 15. 23 rising operatic stars will compete in the 2026 Eric and Dominique Laffont Competition National Semifinals! ✨

The Semifinals will be live streamed from the Met stage beginning at 11am ET via Laffont.Kiswe.com and the Met Opera YouTube channel. If you choose to use the Kiswe ink, there will be multiple camera views to toggle through, including EXCLUSIVE backstage interview segments with each competitor!

Singers who advance through National Semifinals will sing in the Grand Finals Concert on Sunday, March 22 at 3pm ET at the Met! Tickets are available for the Grand Finals via metopera.org or by calling the Box Office at 212-362-6000.

I’m thrilled to be back in 2026/27 for the Laffont Grand Finals Concert on March 21, 2027 with the incomparable . Few projects are more rewarding for a conductor than working with the next generation of extraordinary talent. When I led this concert in 2024, the legendary hosted and guest artist sang an unforgettable Dutchman’s monologue from Wagner’s .

Over the course of each year, the — led by and team — crisscrosses the nation to select 10 finalists from over 1,700 applicants. It all culminates in opera’s own ‘March Madness,’ an intense week of further auditions, coaching and mentoring in , preparing young artists to sing for the first time on the world’s greatest stage.

No one writes a mad scene like Bellini! - 2026 started off with a triumphant ‘I Puritani’ at led by the star-studded cast of
