Rockingham Educational Foundation, Inc. - REFI REFI is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit tax-exempt philanthropic organization that shares a vision of enhancing public education.

In 1994, a group of citizens came together with the belief that a good education is vital to the economic and social health of a community. They formed the educational foundation to enhance the quality of education in Rockingham County, VA. REFI was incorporated on September 19, 1994. The use of social media for Rockingham Educational Foundation, Inc. (REFI) is intended to promote constructive and effective communication with and between stakeholders in the school division, our schools, and the community. The purposes of social media communication may include posts to announce, to inform, to educate, to recognize, to celebrate, to build awareness and understanding, to clarify, to entertain, and to share and promote the mission, vision, goals, programs, and initiatives of REFI. Discourse and communication on REFI social media should be professional, respectful, and pertaining to these goals. Posts and comments on REFI social media will be monitored by REFI staff. Communication of the following kinds will be prohibited:
Profane, vulgar, or obscene
Libelous, defamatory, derogatory, or name-calling
Discriminatory, hateful, or racist
Threatening or harassing
Commercial endorsements, conducting private commercial transactions or engaging in private business activities
Promoting partisan political views or endorsing political campaigns or candidates
Sharing confidential information about students or staff
Personally naming students without parent permission
Copyright violations
Information that could reasonably compromise individual or public safety

A huge thank you to the Shenandoah Valley F.O.E #4150, for their generous support of REFI’s Teacher Supply Depot over the past three years!

Last week, they presented REFI with a check to support educators throughout Rockingham County Public Schools. Their continued generosity helps us provide teachers with the classroom supplies and resources they need to support student learning.

☕🥯 Breakfast was on us yesterday at East Rockingham High School!

Congratulations to the staff at East Rockingham High School, this year’s winners of REFI’s Employee Breakfast! Each volunteer at the REFI Lemonade Stand during the Rockingham County Fair was able to select a school to entered into a drawing for staff breakfast, and East Rockingham was the lucky winner! 🎉

We’re so grateful to all of the RCPS staff who volunteered their time to make the Lemonade Stand a success. Whether they were pouring lemonade, helping customers, restocking supplies, or pitching in behind the scenes, every volunteer made a difference.

And a huge thank you to the Cross Keys-Mill Creek Ruritan Club for their continued support of this fundraising initiative. Their partnership helps makes the Lemonade Stand possible year after year and, most importantly, helps REFI support learning for Rockingham County Public Schools students and teachers.

💡 RCPS Staff: Have an idea that could make learning more engaging for your students?

REFI’s Innovative Learning Grants are now OPEN! 🎉

Grants of $300–$5,000 are available to all RCPS employees to support creative, innovative projects that motivate students, enrich learning, and help students become Critical Thinkers, Communicators, Collaborators, Creators, and Good Citizens.

Projects can include things like:
📚 Instructional materials and supplies
💻 Educational software
🚌 Curriculum-based field trips
🎭 Guest speakers and presentations
👩‍🏫 Professional development
✨ And other ideas that bring learning to life!

There are four grant categories:
🔹 Collaboration: Up to $5,000
🔹 School-Wide: Up to $3,000
🔹 Large Individual: Up to $2,500
🔹 Small Individual: $300–$1,500

📅 Applications are due October 13, 2026, by 11:59 p.m.
