✨GRRACE Success Story✨

“I applied to be a GRRACE adopter at the beginning of February. I grew up with Golden Retrievers and have one of my own named Zola. Zola is 8 and was diagnosed with mast cell tumor last year. I felt we were both needed a little addition to bring some new golden energy into our home after a very hard year. After I applied, Ruby became available, and I said I would love to meet her! I mean, as soon as I facetimed her I couldn’t say no. I met her and fell in love! She joined our home after Zola finished radiation in March. She has brought such spunky, sassy energy! It has warmed by heart to see how much she loves and respects Zola and is adapting to her new life as a chic city girl. She loves the big pink couch, her ball, and walking to the coffee shop knowing she will get a pup cup! She and I just started obedience class and I’m excited to see how she reacts when she sees the beach for the first time! I love having Rubix Cube as a part of our family :) Thank you GRRACE for trusting Zola and I with this previous golden girl!”

We love to see sweet Ruby living her best life on her pink sofa 😍thank you for opening your heart and home for her!

✨GRRACE Success Story✨

“This is Winnie (formerly known as Lainey with GRRACE), the newest addition to our family. She’s full of energy and personality, always ready for an adventure. Her favorite activities include long walks, chasing balls at the park, and soaking up as much love as she can get from her new family (who absolutely adore her right back!). She especially enjoys our trips to South Haven, where she loves strolling along the lake and sniffing everything in sight.

It’s shaping up to be the best summer yet, for all of us, and especially for Winnie!”

We are so happy for Winnie and her family 😍thank you for showing this sweet girl the best life 🌊🎾

Happy 🐾

Our mission is to find loving homes for Goldens in need across Indiana, but it’s also to educate the community about why adoption is so important. By choosing to rescue, you’re helping to stop the vicious cycle of puppy mills and backyard breeders, and giving a dog the chance to live the life he or she deserves. Rescues and shelters are overcrowded with deserving dogs of all breeds and ages waiting to be chosen 💔

Not ready to adopt? You can still change a dog’s life:

🏡Foster a dog in need
🚗Volunteer your time (GRRACE always needs volunteers to transport dogs, conduct home visits and assist with special events!)
💊Donate toward medical care and rescue efforts
🤳🏻Share adoptable dogs and rescue awareness

And when the time comes to add a dog to your family, please choose rescue first. Learn more at GRRACE.org💛

✨GRRACE Success Story✨

“My husband and I adopted our first dog, a golden named Mr. Rogers, from Hamilton Humane in March 2023. At the shelter we learned about GRRACE (shoutout, Caitlin!) and gave Roger several foster siblings: Forrest, Oakleigh, Granger, Dixie, Winnie, Ollie, and Mark.

After losing Roger to lymphoma, we knew it would take a very special golden to heal our hearts. Then we got the call that our next foster, Sammy, was being transferred to GRRACE after his owner passed away. He was available for pickup at... you guessed it... Hamilton Humane.

Sammy arrived with a broken heart of his own, but quickly helped us piece ours back together. Whether it’s sniffing every inch of our walks, “purring” when he wants to be pet, or taking over the entire bed, Sammy reminds us to live life to the fullest each day.”

This is what rescue is all about 💛thank you for opening your heart and home to so many pups, and for making sweet Sammy a part of your family!

26 adoptions in Q1 2026 💛

It’s been a busy year and we’re thrilled for the 26 dogs and counting who have found loving forever homes through GRRACE. As you can see, Goldens of all shapes, sizes, ages and backgrounds find their way to us and each one is deserving of a life full of love and comfort. We are so grateful for our community of adopters and fosters (many of whom ultimately adopt their foster dog). Without you, we can’t help more dogs in need 💛

Please help us by applying to adopt and/or foster, and by spreading the word about rescuing 🐾

Closing out with a spotlight on the ultimate Golden Retriever hype girl, GRRACE’s Intake Coordinator, .27 💛

“I have been volunteering as Intake Coordinator for GRRACE since 2020. As intake coordinator, I am the first in line to connect with a surrendering owner and help them through our rehoming process for their Golden. Owners surrender for many reasons, many of which they would have never expected themselves in this situation. One of my main goals is to always convey understanding, never judgement, as they are ultimately wanting what is best for the Golden at that moment in time. It is an absolutely bittersweet process, but knowing that their Golden will continue to be cared for and loved helps the transition that much more.
Working as intake coordinator has also provided me the opportunity to get to meet and build relationships with other wonderful GRRACE volunteers (evaluators, transporters, fosters), local shelters, local rescues (House of Paws, Loyal K9) and neighboring Golden rescues (AGAG, GRRR, GRRAND). I would have never been able to meet these people otherwise and I consider myself so lucky to be meeting such incredible people across our state! I have also fostered for GRRACE - 2/4 times being “foster fails” (aka my “foster dogs” ended up being adopted by me! haha). I’d love to give a shoutout to our Original Golden (“OG” 😉) Brody, as he helped to comfort our fosters and help them gain confidence during their time at our home.

Ultimately, the greatest joys as a volunteer for GRRACE has been: cultivating relationships across our organization, being able to see a dog’s journey through from beginning (initial surrender) to end (adoption), and being blessed with our very own GRRACE dogs we were able to help and love (Sammy & Doug)!”

We are so grateful for your heart and enthusiasm, Erin 🐾thank you for all you do to help countless dogs in need!
