This summer, we made magic. 💖

We made it in classrooms and cabins, through laughter, reflection, friendship, and self-love. We carried it from Boston to Cartagena to Ghana, learning from one another and building community every step of the way.

This summer was connection, joy, and belonging, proof of what becomes possible when girls are given the space to know their power, use their voices, and love who they are.

What happens when Black and Brown girls get the space to turn their attention inward?

They listen. They question. They laugh. They write. They connect. They learn to recognize the voice inside that builds them up. And the one that doesn’t.

At All About (Self) Love, our girls explored what it means to define, critique and deepen their own self-love, while building tools they can carry into their relationships, their communities and the world.

Because loving yourself isn’t the end of the journey.

It’s where so much begins. 💖

In Cartagena, our Fellows explored the city’s Black history and partnered with the Alex Rocha Youth Center, where we came together with their girls for a wellness workshop and conversation.

Across cultures and countries, we reflected on the experiences of Black girls in Cartagena and in our own communities: what we share, what is different, and what we can learn from one another. 💖

Love Your Magic was invited to join Grantmakers for Girls of Color and Dr. Monique Couvson at the inaugural Women in Leadership Delegation. The international exchange convened by G4GC in partnership with Ghana ASCD and the University of Ghana brought women and girls together for intergenerational learning, cross-cultural collaboration, and global sisterhood.

This one felt especially meaningful. Dr. Couvson’s groundbreaking work on Pushout inspired the founding of Love Your Magic. Years later, to be invited into community with her in Ghana — and to bring one of our own alums with us — was a beautiful full-circle moment.

Our hearts are still full.

This summer, our girls came together to laugh loudly, love deeply, take up space, make space. And celebrate the magic that’s been theirs all along.

At Love Your Magic, we spend a lot of time reminding girls and femmes to care for themselves with the same intention they bring to caring for everyone else.

So, we’re taking our own advice. 💖

From August 19th through September 8th, our team is taking a summer pause — time to rest, refill our cups, water our own gardens, and make a little room for joy.

Because rest isn’t stepping away from the work. It’s part of what makes the work possible.

We’ll be back after Labor Day, restored and ready for all the magic ahead.

Until then, we hope you find a little space to tend to yourself, too.

Rest. Restore. Refill. Your magic will be waiting. ✨

Our hearts are full. Summer camp officially wrapped last week, here are a few pictures from our time together.

Summer camp also marked the launch of this year’s theme, “The Magic Was Always You,” in honor of our 10th anniversary. The theme invites Black and Brown girls and femmes to recognize the magic they already carry within themselves. As we celebrate ten years of Love Your Magic, this theme is a reminder that we don’t create the magic in our girls and femmes, we amplify it.

This magic is collective. It’s mirrored by the caregivers and communities that pour into them, and it’s what has carried Love Your Magic for a decade and will continue to carry us forward.

Congratulations to Love Your Magic, a 2026 Women’s Fund of Essex County grantee!

Girls deserve spaces where they can care for their well-being, build confidence, and learn to advocate for themselves.

With support from The Women’s Fund, Love Your Magic will bring its "Be Well Retreats" to girls in Lynn and Lawrence. These eight-week experiences are designed to nurture mental health and wellness through yoga, meditation, healing circles, dance, and community connection. Created especially to support Black and Brown girls as they navigate adolescence, the retreats offer a welcoming environment where participants can explore self-love, self-care and the tools that help them feel grounded and empowered.

We are honored to invest in programs that affirm girls’ voices and help them recognize their own strength.

Congratulations, Love Your Magic! Thank you for creating spaces where girls can grow, heal and thrive.💙🧡💛

At Love Your Magic, the well-being of our girls is always at the center of everything we do. The Love Your Magic Summer Camp was born during the pandemic to create a space for Black and Brown girls to be in community with each other during such an isolating time. We transitioned into an in-person summer camp that centers the well-being of our girls by creating a space for them to learn, play, and be fully themselves.

This year marks our 10th year as an organization and our 5th in-person summer camp, and under the theme 'The Magic Was Always You,' we're reflecting on everything our girls have grown into and everything they've always carried.

Thank you WBZ / CBS News Boston and Levan Reid for shining a light on our mission and magic!

The group says the camp offers a transformative experience for Black and Brown girls. WBZ-TV's Levan Reid went to the camp in Carver.

Last week, our Belonging and Becoming Fellows traveled to Cartagena, Colombia for our annual Black Girlhood Globally trip. In partnership with Fundación Alex Rocha, girls on both sides of the diaspora came together for a wellness workshop rooted in breathwork and storytelling. They reflected on what it means to move through the world as Black and Brown girls and femmes and found community in one another.

Our fellows also visited Palenque, the first free African town in the Americas, where they learned about the rich history of its people and the powerful ways in which that history is being preserved and carried forward today.
