Today marks the beginning of a month dedicated to raising awareness about child abuse. The CAC staff, alongside Bikers Against Child Abuse, spent the day placing pinwheels and signs throughout the community to shine a light on this critical national, state, and local issue impacting our most vulnerable—our children.

A heartfelt thank you to Piggly Wiggly on 280, the Russell County Courthouse (Commission), the Russell County Judicial Center, Synovus on 13th, Alex Quinney Allstate, and 13th St BBQ in Ladonia for allowing us to display pinwheels as symbols of prevention.

If you’re near any of these locations, we encourage you to stop by, snap a photo with you in it, and share it on our page!

We are grateful for a community that stands with us in protecting and advocating for our children.

Miss Phenix City's Evie Smith made an impact at our Father-Daughter Dance, exemplifying poise and elegance and dressing for the theme, while showcasing her inner and outer beauty to all attendees. Additionally, she generously donated SANE care kits and Jaggy stuffed animals to our organization, which will be utilized to provide comfort to children undergoing sexual assault medical exams. The Jaggy companions are strategically placed in our medical and conference rooms for children to select following their forensic interview. Notably, we distributed our first Jaggy companion yesterday. Each of these stuffed animals features a metal nameplate bearing the name Jaggy. We extend our gratitude to Evie for serving as an ambassador for Children's Advocacy Centers across the state and for championing the mission of the Alabama Network of Children's Advocacy Centers.

When every corner of your office is filled with “stuff”, you know it is fundraising time. Our sock hop theme Father Daughter Dance is coming along. Be sure to get tickets early! We have to get a head count for food and seating a week ahead! Thank you as always for your support and please share with those you think would be interested! Wanda Youngblood photography will do our professional pictures and we will have our selfie photo area as always. Sam Beman will be our DJ again this year. Go to www.rccac.org to get your tickets. Remember, every dollar raised helps support the work we do for child victims of sexual abuse, severe physical abuse, witness to violence, and chemical endangerment.

Thank you to the Phenix City School Counselors for coming out to the center today. They know what we do, but they toured the center and got a first-hand look at how and why we do what we do. Thank you for the work you do and the collaboration!

The theme of our dance this year is Sock Hop. I am reaching out to see if anyone has or knows someone that has a 1950’s car that they would be willing to come and park it and be there in the parking lot as people walk in. I think it would be great for kids to see and they could take pics in front of it before they ever come in the doors. If you know someone could you please reach out to them and if they say yes, let me know! It’s Feb 21…. Need to be there from about 5 to 630 at St Luke ministry center.
