🌟Wishlist Wednesday🌟

The heat is on as we enter the summertime, with kittens arriving at the shelter daily and high temperatures limiting the length of time our pups can spend in the yard.

To help our ever-growing kitten population and keep our dogs busy indoors and safely enjoying outdoor activities, we are asking for kitten food, bully sticks, and dog harnesses (especially small + medium). Check out our Wishlists on Amazon and Chewy for easy donation.

Meet Kitty — a gentle, sweet 2-year-old girl looking for a calm home and a patient human to love. 💛

Kitty is shy at first, but once she feels safe, she adores gentle affection, belly rubs, cozy cat beds, and quiet companionship. She’s especially wonderful with other cats and would make an amazing feline friend for a cat who needs a buddy.

She thrives with calm people, slow introductions, and predictable routines. Loud environments and fast movements make her nervous, so she’s hoping for a quieter home where she can blossom at her own pace.

Kitty may take a little time to trust, but her foster family promises: she is absolutely worth the wait. If you believe the best relationships are earned slowly and lovingly, Kitty may be your perfect match.

Kitty will be part of the Empty the Shelter adoption event from July 5-26 with a “pay what you want” adoption fee!

Empty the Shelters® returns July 5–26! 💙💚
Summer is one of the most challenging times of year for animal shelters. Kitten and puppy season brings an influx of homeless pets, while adoptions often slow down—leaving shelters overcrowded and stretched for resources.

Fluvanna SPCA will be participating with BISSEL Pet Foundation in their Empty the Shelters adoption event from July 5-26 with “pay what you can” adoption fees for our dogs and cats of all ages.

☀️Goliath Update☀️

When he first arrived at the shelter, Goliath had some initial challenges meeting and interacting with other dogs. Since then, our staff CPDT has been spending time working with him to improve his dog social skills. This has involved evaluating his play style while intentionally matching him with the right playmates. Over the course of multiple guided sessions, Goliath is finally learning how to appropriately play!

🐶Shout out to Foxie and Otis for being great helpers!

In addition of this, his favorite staff members have been working daily with him to improve his GIANT puppy manners and help him become the best version of himself 🤩

This dog was found as a stray on Riverside Dr in Lake Monticello. He is currently at Fluvanna SPCA. Please contact Fluvanna SPCA at 434-591-0123 with any information.

Tater came to Fluvanna SPCA with a bad haircut.

Staff here gave him a worse haircut but he feels better.
