The Bawa Health Initiative is an NGO established to reduce the prevalence of endemic diseases in the village of Bawa, Cameroon and neighboring villages.

Goals are to treat, empower, and educate through interventions and collaboration.

Yesterday was the last day of our 2026 Soccer for Bawa Camp. And we had our most favorite camp visit: Utopia Frozen Yogurt of Ellensburg stopped by to donate yogurts to campers and their families. We have no words to thank Jill Edison, Owner of Utopia Frozen Yogurt for supporting our health projects in Bawa and surrounding villages.
We had another fun time this week with our returning and new friends. Parents, we thank you for trusting us with your kiddos.
A Big Thank You to all our sponsors including ShirtWorks, Utopia Frozen Yogurt and Domino's Pizza! This camp could not have been successful without the help of our volunteer coaches Haley Kokjer, Bela Arellano, Eliab Belay and Demafo Dondji!

Day 2 of the 2026 Bawa Soccer: we received our specialb red 2026 World Cup camp t-shirts from ShirtWorks! A Big Thank You to Brandon Mills and his team at ShirtWorks, Ellensburg, WA.
We can't thank Domino's Pizza enough for feeding our volunteers since Monday and for the rest of the camp. Thank you to Justin Tucker and his crew at Domino's Pizza of Ellensburg. We can't wait to have free frozen yogurt from Utopia Frozen Yogurt of Ellensburg. Tomorrow is Day 3 and we can't wait to have our friends back for fun and some soccer skill building!

The news of a baby born at the Sophie Awounkeu Community Health Centre in Bawa always melt my heart. Today, we welcomed a baby girl. Congratulations to the family and a Big Welcome to our new friend! Thank you Alexandra for taking care of the delivery!

With the funding from Confluence Rotary of Wenatchee, WA, we started construction of a building that will house a kitchen for the patients, that of the personnel and a guest room. Additional funds were received from Kelleher Motor Company. Thank you both for supporting our projects in Bawa!

The Sophie Awounkeu Community Health Centre of Bawa recently hosted for a month four students from the Foyangem Institute of Higher Education of Dschang, Cameroon. Of the four, two were physical therapy students, one nursing student and one student in medical laboratory sciences. The students were at the Centre for their community health training that has now ended. The trainees in their report have praised the Centre's staff for the skills acquired, the welcoming environment and others that made their stay in Bawa very memorable. Our collaboration with the Foyangem Institute of Higher Education started two years ago and we hope to continue. A Big Thank You to the clinic staff for passing on the knowledge and skills!
