A beautiful winter day on Sawmill Road.
A split tree and a variety of animal tracks were among the interesting things to see. What delightful treasures we find in the winter snow!

I started these monthly Connect with Nature observations back in January thinking they would be about one tree. But I quickly realized it also involved the lake, the wind, the clouds, and sun. The birds, insects, and flowers needed to be included as did the fish, frogs, and even the beaver. What I didn’t expect was how much I would enjoy the time I spent doing the observations. The changes that this ecosystem goes through are incredible. Watching the lake freeze and the shape shifting that happens with ice is awesome. The spring buds on the branches excited me. I welcomed the shade the tree gave me in the summer and then the realization that the beautiful green canopy would fall to the ground in autumn. And now December has the beauty of snow and ice once again. It’s been a wonderful experience. Thank you very much for joining me on this fabulous journey!
