PLEASE NOTE: WE AREN'T THE SHELTER OR A RESCUE. We introduce the animals in our local shelter to the public, encourage ADOPTION, network with rescues & identify resources. This page is NOT run by the shelter - it's managed by local animal advocates whose objective is to expose the animals at our County shelter to as many individuals and rescues as possible in hopes of finding them good homes or rescue. Friends of the Harnett County Animal Shelter is NOT a rescue. MANY OF OUR ANIMALS POSTED HAVE VERY LITTLE TIME, SO IT'S CRITICAL to act quickly if you see an animal you're interested in. If you have specific questions about an animal, please call the shelter at (910) 814-2952. Be aware that they will not hold an animal or process an adoption via telephone. The shelter staff does a great job at keeping their website current with the status of available and adopted animals. New animals are added nearly every business day. http://harnett.org/ac/

While this is NOT a gassing shelter, it is very small and therefore animals can be held for only a minimal amount of time, usually no longer than one week. Please be honest and constructive with your posts. Please see our "Notes" about pledges, about fostering and about monetary gifts for further elaboration. Copying the posts on this page to promote the animals on other sites is encouraged. However please include that you are functioning as a cross poster and are NOT owner/manager/admin of this site. We could not think of a better way to start the weekend than with good news…..drumroll please 🥁
SIENNA WAS ADOPTED TODAY!!!

A huge thank you to the family that has taken Sienna to be part of their family. She deserves nothing but the very best! ❤️❤️

❤️🐾 SIENNA HAS BEEN ADOPTED!!! 🐾❤️

Someone saw her. Someone chose her. And Sienna is officially ADOPTED! ❤️

To her new family, thank you for seeing the wonderful girl we've known all along and giving her the chance she deserved.

And to everyone who shared her story, worried about her, and cheered her on, thank you. These happy endings remind us why we keep fighting, even when the difficult days seem endless.

We wish every dog could have this ending. But today, we're celebrating one very special girl who got her second chance.

Sienna, sweetheart, your waiting is over. You are finally somebody's baby. 🥹💕

Happy tails, beautiful girl. Go enjoy every bit of the love you've been waiting for. 🐾❤️
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
💔🐾 SIENNA IS STILL WAITING. AND TIME IS RUNNING OUT. 🐾💔

Somehow, this big, beautiful girl has spent 30 days in our shelter with little to no interest. And now, Sienna is on FINAL HOLD.

We're struggling to understand how a girl with this much love to give keeps getting overlooked. ❤️

💕 MEET SIENNA! 💕

Sienna is a big sweetheart who absolutely LOVES being with her people. She's not asking for much, just a family to love, a comfortable place to land, and preferably someone who appreciates a little extra dog to cuddle. 😂

🐾 Loves people and attention
🐶 Good with other dogs
💕 Prefers canine friends who respect her space
🐱 No cats, please!

Sienna gets along with other dogs, but she's not a fan of being jumped on or treated like playground equipment. She has boundaries, people. A lady is allowed to have standards! 😂

🚨 FINAL HOLD DEADLINE: MONDAY, OCTOBER 26, AT 4 PM.

💔 We don't want Sienna's story to end here.

We want her biggest worry to be whether she's allowed on the couch, not whether she'll ever get to leave her kennel.

Please share Sienna. Come meet her. Help us find her person.

She has so much love left to give. She just needs someone willing to give her a chance. ❤️

Georgia on my mind 💜

Georgia on my mind 💜

Our little Georgia peach has officially packed up her adorable smile, her nonstop wagging tail, and her professional-level lovebug skills and taken them HOME!

This sweet girl came to us looking like life hadn't always been kind to her, but she never let that stop her from loving everyone she met. And now? She has a family to call her very own. 🥹💕

We warned them about her serious Velcro dog potential, so we hope they're prepared to never use the bathroom alone again. 😂

Georgia, sweet girl, we hope the rest of your life is everything the first part should have been. Full of love, kindness, soft places to sleep, and people who remind you every single day just how special you are.

To her new family, thank you for seeing the beautiful little soul behind that big smile and giving her the happy ending she deserves.

Life just got a little sweeter for our Georgia peach! 🍑❤️🐾
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

🍑🐾 LITTLE GEORGIA, TINY GIRL GEORGIA, SWEET GEORGIA! 🐾🍑

Oh, Georgia. 🥹❤️ This little lady is about as sweet as a Georgia peach, and we are absolutely smitten!

Meet Georgia, a 3-year-old, spayed sweetheart who apparently decided that whatever life threw her way, she was going to keep loving everybody anyway. ❤️

🐾 3 years old
💕 Spayed
🩺 Heartworm negative
🐶 Dog friendly
🥰 People friendly
💗 Professional lovebug with serious Velcro dog potential

Now, we're not going to pretend this little girl looks like she's had an easy life. Georgia has clearly seen some rough days, and we wish we could tell her that those days are officially behind her.

But here's the beautiful thing about Georgia: whatever she's been through hasn't taken an ounce of sweetness out of her. ❤️

Georgia gets so excited when she meets new people that her whole back end practically has a mind of its own! 😂❤️ Her tail is always working overtime, and she'll even flash you one of her adorable little smiles. Apparently, Georgia believes every new person is a potential best friend, and she's not about to waste an opportunity to make one! 🐾💕

She's still smiling. Still wagging. Still loving people like it's her full-time job. And we have a sneaking suspicion that once she finds her person, personal space is going to become a thing of the past. 😂

Bathroom trips alone? Unlikely.
Personal bubble? Never heard of her.
A tiny shadow following you around the house? Georgia reporting for duty! 🫡🐾

We don't know what Georgia's life looked like before she came to us, but we sure hope the next chapter is full of soft beds, gentle hands, endless belly rubs, and someone who loves her as fiercely as she's ready to love them.

Somewhere out there are Georgia's people. We just need to help them find their girl. ❤️
