North Valley Food Bank

North Valley Food Bank Our Free Grocery Store is open Tuesdays 2-6pm, Wednesdays 10am-4pm, and Thursdays 10am-4pm. Office hours are Mon-Thurs 9am-3pm.

We are a non profit 501©3 organization with three employees and 200 volunteers. NVFB covers north to the Canadian Border, Stryker, Rexford, Olney, Whitefish, Half Moon and south to Happy Valley.

Meet Emily! Emily joined NVFB earlier this spring as the Database & Administrative Assistant.

She was raised with the US Army and moved around the US and Germany until her family settled in Maryland, but she followed her love of the mountains (and her now-fiancé) to Whitefish in January 2023.

She earned her BA in International Affairs and Sociology from the University of Mary Washington and her MA in Post-war Recovery Studies from University of York. She has almost a decade of experience interning and working with nonprofits and small businesses, and she takes any opportunity to travel and grow her experience in database management. After years of working on the international scale, Emily’s excited to focus on her local community.

When she’s not at the office, Emily can be found on Big Mountain, the ranch, the archery range, or on the couch with her cat Darth Maul!

Look who we found at both Whitefish Farmers Market and Badrock Farmers Market | Columbia Falls, MT - our friends Syd and Shane, owners of Condinos ! Syd and Shane participated in our Incubator Kitchen Program that wrapped up earlier this year to help build their pizza business! We are so proud of all they have accomplished!!

We are happy to welcome Seth to the NVFB Team as our Warehouse Coordinator! Seth joined our team in May of this year and has been doing an amazing job managing our inventory, preparing all food for our outbound distributions and deliveries, and assisting in facility projects!

A little bit about Seth:
Seth was born and raised in South Carolina and moved to Montana with his spouse, Haley, in 2021. They both began working at Chrysalis, a therapeutic boarding school in Eureka, taking students on outdoor adventures. He attended North Greenville University and pursued a degree in Outdoor Leadership and Education. He loves the outdoors and everything it allows him to do.

One of Seth’s main values is supporting and engaging with his community, as it is where he finds his purpose, friendships, support systems, and much more. He is very excited to be working so closely with his community in this role.

Please join us in thanking Mandy for her time as North Valley Food Bank’s Director of Development!

Mandy is embarking on a new adventure in the social work world, where she will continue serving our communities with the same compassion, dedication, and heart that she brought to NVFB every day. While we will miss her, we are excited to partner with her in this next chapter and know that our neighbors will be well served by her care and commitment.

We will miss Mandy’s kind spirit, infectious enthusiasm, and willingness to jump in wherever help is needed. Whether she was leading fundraising campaigns, planning events, making hundreds of donor calls, welcoming customers in our Free Grocery Store, harvesting produce, stocking shelves, or lending a hand behind the scenes, Mandy always showed up with a smile and a deep belief in the power of community.

Over the years, Mandy has helped strengthen the relationships that make our work possible and has played an important role in advancing our mission. We are deeply grateful for her countless contributions, her dedication to our neighbors, and the care she has shared with our team, volunteers, donors, and customers alike.

Thank you, Mandy, for everything you have given to North Valley Food Bank. We wish you all the best in this next adventure and look forward to seeing the impact you will continue to make in our community.

Today, we remember our founder June and celebrate what would have been her 99th birthday! North Valley Food Bank is proud to celebrate June’s legacy every single day. We believe that access to healthy food is a human right and everyone is welcome here! Happy birthday June!
If you stop by the food bank today, grab a garden vegetable or herb generously donated by Foster Flowers and share your harvest with a neighbor in honor of June later this summer.

Thank you so much to Glacier Surf youth soccer team for flyering at Safeway for our FEED KIDS food drive! The players encouraged shoppers to add kid-friendly food to their grocery list to donate to NVFB and ended up bringing in hundreds of pounds of food!
