North Valley Food Bank Our Free Grocery Store is open Tuesdays 2-6pm, Wednesdays 10am-4pm, and Thursdays 10am-4pm. Office hours are Mon-Thurs 9am-3pm.

We are a non profit 501©3 organization with three employees and 200 volunteers. NVFB covers north to the Canadian Border, Stryker, Rexford, Olney, Whitefish, Half Moon and south to Happy Valley.

Meet Ruth and Sam, our AmeriCorps VISTA members!

Ruth and Sam both joined our team last month and have been hard at work starting their projects and supporting NVFB’s operations! We are so grateful to have them on our team!

Ruth will be working alongside Maddie and Rachael, supporting Farm to Food Bank and food processing in the kitchen. Sam will be help launch our community needs assessment to find and understand gaps throughout The Valley in relation to food security and wellbeing.

Our hearts are still so full from Harvest Fest! So many neighbors joined us to share a meal at our pay-what-you-can pop-up restaurant and enjoyed an afternoon of community! 🍎💚

We are so grateful for our community partners that held an activity booth at our event: DIRT Rich Compost and Pickup , Wildtorium Montana WILD- FWP and Rotten neighbor kid!

Our cider press, quick pickle station, craft table and matching apples game were also hits!

Lastly, thank you North Valley Music School for connecting us with the lovely bluegrass band that played and made the event so special!

It’s been a week since Harvest Fest and we are still daydreaming about the delicious food!

Here are the masterminds behind the menu! Thank you to our Incubator Kitchen participants, Will and Shane for sharing your talents with us. Will crafted the miso glazed chicken sandwich and sesame slaw. See what he’s cooking up at Yukiyama Kitchen. Shane baked the orange, cardamom, coffee cake, and chocolate cupcakes, both gluten free! You can see what other delicious treats she’s making Tea & Loving Care, LLC.

This event wouldn’t have been possible without the help of our wonderful kitchen volunteers.

Thank you to everyone who came out to volunteer with us last Saturday at Harvest Fest! Volunteers harvested over 1200 pounds of fruit in just a few hours!

We will begin processing that local fruit and turning it into applesauce, to then be frozen and distributed throughout the winter.

Thank you to First Interstate Bank for volunteering with us for their Volunteer Day yesterday! They helped us start processing tomatoes to make tomato sauce in our kitchen, prepped farm fresh carrots, and repackaged over 1,000 pounds of bulk rice!

Through generous gifts from 398 households, North Valley Food Bank raised $300,405 through the Great Fish Community Challenge — reaching our $300,000 goal!
Over the past few weeks, we’ve been reminded again and again of what makes this community so special: neighbors showing up for neighbors.

Together, this year’s Great Fish Community Challenge raised more than $8 million for 89 local nonprofits doing good work across our community. Thank you for rooting for our neighbors and helping keep fresh, nourishing food within reach.

We are so grateful.

Join us THIS Saturday for Harvest Fest!

Apple picking begins at 10am and festivities and lunch start at noon!

Our friends at DIRT Rich Compost and Pickup , Montana WILD- FWP Wildtorium will be there to provide info and activities for all! We will also have a free clothing pop-up offering clothes from newborn to pr***en.

Make sure to press your own cider and make your own quick pickle at the event! We will have all the supplies available to you, but if you have a jar, please bring it!

There will also be a kids craft table making bean and lentil mosaics.

Lastly, we invite you to share a meal with your fellow neighbors at our pay-what-you-can pop-up restaurant. This is a free event, so make sure to stop by from noon-2pm!

Food security connects to every part of community well-being. Because one challenge can quickly ripple into many, we’re highlighting fellow Great Fish Community Challenge nonprofits working alongside us to support our community.

This week, we’re rooting for organizations supporting youth well-being: Center for Restorative Youth Justice and CASA for Kids, Inc.

Together, we strengthen the support network our neighbors rely on.
