Greensboro New School The Greensboro New School was built by teachers and parents with a new vision for preschool. We opened August 29, 2012. Please contact us for hours and tuition.

The Greensboro New School is a part time preschool and early elementary program based on the best of Montessori, Waldorf and Reggio Emilia traditions blended with our own commitment to individual attention and growth. Our focus is child-centered, child directed learning where students are partners along with parents and teachers in developing goals and processes.

Looking for local vendors AND food trucks! 🎃🍔🛍️

Greensboro New School is hosting our annual Fall Festival & Trunk-or-Treat on Saturday, October 17th from 4:30–6:30 PM, and we’re looking for local vendors and food trucks who would like to participate!

We typically have 200+ families attend, and our event continues to grow each year! Vendors are welcome to sell products, promote their business, or share information about their services. Vendor spaces are just $25.

If you own a small business or food truck, or know someone who might be interested, please tag them below or send me a message! I’d love to connect. ❤️

🌿 **NEW at Greensboro New School: More Flexible Preschool Options!** 🌿

We’re excited to announce two big changes that will make GNS accessible to even more families this year!

✨ **Enrollment now begins at age 2!**
Previously, children needed to be 2½ to attend GNS. We’re excited to welcome younger preschoolers into our community!

✨ **2-day-a-week enrollment is now available for all ages!**
Families can now choose a 2-day schedule for their child, regardless of age.

We know every family’s needs are different, and not every child or family is looking for a 4–5 day preschool schedule. We hope these new options make it easier for more families to find a preschool experience that works for them. 💛

GNS is a small, nonprofit, Montessori-inspired preschool serving children ages **2–6**, with a **1:6 teacher-to-child ratio**, plenty of outdoor time, and a focus on play, independence, curiosity, and social-emotional development.

🕣 **School hours:** 8:30 AM–12:30 PM
📅 **2, 3, 4 & 5-day options available**

Interested in joining us? Send us a message to learn more, ask questions, or schedule a visit!

Happy Monday, friends!!

🌿📚 Our school still has a few remaining spots open for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. Please reach out via Facebook or our website for any additional info or questions you may have. You can also schedule a convenient time to tour the school.

☀️💦 A reminder to our enrolled families (and potential new families!!) for the upcoming school year, we have our Keeley Park Sprayground meetup happening this coming Saturday, the 15th at 11:00 a.m. (when the sprayground opens).

👩‍🏫 It is such a fun time for returning students and new incoming students to gather and play in a relaxed environment. It’s also the perfect time for parents to chit chat with each other and some of our amazing teachers!!

🛝 There is a wonderful accessible playground here as well. If your child isn't ready to stop playing or you just need to let them get more energy out (or they are overstimulated and need a break from the water), feel free to hang out there as well. You can pack a lunch, snacks, drinks and enjoy cooling off while making new friends!

The Montessori shift that surprised me most? Parenting became less about doing more… and more about trusting my child to do more. 💛

These simple principles build confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.. one small moment at a time. 🧠

🍃 **What do you hope your child remembers most about preschool?**

When children look back years from now, they probably won't remember every craft they made or every letter they learned.

But they'll remember how they **felt**.

💚 They remember feeling safe.
💚 They remember having a teacher who truly knew them.
💚 They remember muddy shoes after a morning of exploring outdoors.
💚 They remember building friendships, solving problems, and discovering they were capable of doing hard things.

At Greensboro New School, we believe those moments are the foundation for a lifelong love of learning.

(And if your child has already attended GNS, we'd love to hear one of your favorite preschool memories!)

**📚 Preschool Myth #7: "A good preschool sends children to kindergarten already reading."**

**MYTH:** Kindergarten readiness is only about letters, numbers, and reading.

**FACT:** At Greensboro New School, we absolutely work on early literacy, math, and the skills children need for kindergarten. But we also know that true readiness goes beyond academics.

We intentionally help children develop independence, problem-solving, communication, emotional regulation, confidence, and a love of learning—because these are the skills that help children thrive once they get there.

Our goal isn't just for children to *start* kindergarten ready—it's for them to continue growing long after they leave our classrooms.

💬 When you think about kindergarten readiness, what skill do you hope your child has on their first day?

**🤝 Preschool Myth #6: "Children should be forced to share."**

**MYTH:** Immediate sharing is the only polite choice.

**FACT:** Sharing is a skill that develops over time. Young children first learn about ownership, taking turns, waiting, and empathy. These experiences build the foundation for genuine generosity instead of sharing simply because an adult demanded it.

Learning kindness takes practice!

Turn-taking is something we practice every day in our bike area of our outdoor classroom, Cave. 🚲

Rather than simply telling children to "share," we encourage them to use their words, ask for a turn, and work through small conflicts with support. These everyday moments help build patience, empathy, and communication skills.

💬 What's one social skill you've seen your child grow in recently?
