Today is Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG) Awareness Day — a time to recognize the severe, life-altering pregnancy illness that affects about 1% of pregnancies.

HG is not “just morning sickness.” It can cause extreme nausea and vomiting, dehydration, hospitalization, trauma, depression, and even job loss. This year’s message, , is a reminder to trust patient experiences and treat HG as the serious physiological disease it is.

Recent research has also uncovered a genetic link involving the hormone GDF15, giving hope for better understanding, treatment, and support.

Let’s raise awareness, wear teal, share stories, and push for more research and compassionate care for everyone affected by HG 💙

During National Infant Immunization Week, observed April 24–30, we celebrate the importance of protecting babies from the very start. The tiniest patients deserve the strongest protection.

Northland Newborn Foundation is here to support families through those critical first moments because every baby deserves a safe and healthy beginning.

Join us in making a difference and helping provide that support.

💙 We’re so grateful for YOU! 💙

The Northland Newborn Foundation is excited to celebrate our amazing volunteers at our Volunteer Thank You Night at Bent Paddle Brewing Co. this Wednesday, January 28th at 5:30pm!

Join us for a casual social gathering with drinks and food provided as a small token of our appreciation for all the time, care, and heart you give to NNF families.

This evening is open to anyone who has volunteered with NNF — and to anyone who may be interested in volunteering with us in the future. We’d love the chance to connect, celebrate, and say thank you in person!

We hope to see you there! 💫

World Prematurity Day was first observed on November 17, 2008, when parent organizations from Europe came together to raise awareness about the challenges and impacts of preterm birth. Officially recognized globally in 2011, the day is dedicated to highlighting the reality that over 15 million babies are born prematurely (before 37 weeks of gestation) each year, with complications of prematurity being a leading cause of death in children under five.

The day aims to support families affected by preterm births, advocate for improved care, and celebrate advances in medical science that improve survival rates and outcomes for premature babies. Events typically include educational campaigns, candlelight vigils, and fundraising efforts for neonatal care and research. The theme often emphasizes equity and access to quality care for all preterm babies, regardless of where they are born.
