Sexual Assault Center of Middle Tennessee Providing counseling, advocacy, and education for those affected by sexual violence. We also have two satellite offices in Clarksville and Murfreesboro.

The Sexual Assault Center’s mission is to provide healing for children, adults and families affected by sexual assault and to end sexual violence through counseling, education and advocacy. Since opening our doors in 1978, we have created a safe environment where each year over 600 individuals find support, counseling and healing. We have expanded our services beyond counseling in order to eliminate the epidemic of sexual violence. They are now impacting legislation for the benefit of survivors, reaching students of all ages and reshaping cultural norms to create large scale change in our community. Next Saturday, October 17, join ABC’s The Chapel and the Congregational Flourishing Center for Sacred Conversations: Addressing Sexual Assault.
 
In honor of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, this gathering invites the community to talk honestly about sexual assault, its impact, the silence that often surrounds it, and our shared responsibility to build communities rooted in dignity, safety, and healing. Our team will help guide the conversation with expertise, compassion, and a survivor-centered approach.

As national conversations continue about SA and prevention, we’re highlighting one way our community is turning outrage into impact: supporting survivor advocacy and forensic nursing services through SAC’s SAFE Clinic.
 
These services provide compassionate care, expert support, and pathways toward healing while helping strengthen the broader systems that respond to sexual violence through its collaborative partnerships.
If we’re serious about preventing future harm, we must be serious about investing in the people and programs doing the work every day.

Last week’s headlines about Cornell’s Jane Doe were heartbreaking, and the conversations they’re sparking are important. If we want fewer stories like the one emerging from Cornell, our communities need data-driven information to make the conversation about sexual violence more avoidable and accessible. This means teaching consent early. It means empowering bystanders. It means engaging men and boys. It means creating environments where respect and accountability are the norm. It also requires that we bring healing opportunities to victim-survivors as we share a safe space.

Last week’s headlines were heartbreaking. 
 
The conversations they’re sparking are important.
 
But if we want fewer stories like the one emerging from Cornell, we have to talk about prevention.
 
This means teaching consent early. It means empowering bystanders. It means engaging men and boys. It means creating environments where respect and accountability are the norm.

Would you like to support survivors in our community but don't know where to start? This week, SAC offers many opportunities to do just that.

This evening at 6 p.m., we will have a General Volunteer Interest Meeting in person at SAC. You can learn about the various ways volunteers contribute to SAC's mission while getting to know others with the same goal as you.

Our monthly open training series continues Wednesday at noon Central Time with a two-hour deep dive to childhood development. You can join it virtually from the comfort of your own home.

The Safe Bar Happy Hour returns Thursday! Come enjoy the delicious drinks and amazing view of the Nashville skyline at talltalesnashville Rooftop Bar while learning about bystander intervention trainings.
