🐾❤️ KOA UPDATE OUR LITTLE WARRIOR IS FIGHTING! ❤️🐾
We have some WONDERFUL news to share about our brave little Koa!

After undergoing emergency surgery for a diaphragmatic hernia, Koa had a GREAT night! And the best news? He’s eating, pooping, and peeing all the things a puppy SHOULD be doing! 🐶❤️

This little guy is truly living up to his name. Koa means “Warrior” or “Brave” in Hawaiian, and he has proven that he is BOTH!

Kevin headed to the hospital this morning to visit this sweet boy and give him some much-deserved love and attention!

If all continues to go well, we are hopeful that Koa will be released from the emergency hospital TONIGHT! 🙏

One of our amazing volunteers in Kansas City has stepped up to foster Koa while he recovers, giving him the love, care, and time he needs to get stronger. If everything goes as planned, our little warrior will make his journey to Colorado in a couple of weeks!

It truly takes a village to save a life, and we are so grateful for every rescue partner, veterinarian, volunteer, and supporter who has helped give Koa his second chance.

❤️ THANK YOU to everyone who has donated, shared his story, and sent positive thoughts his way!

Koa’s emergency surgery cost over $5,000, and donations are still greatly appreciated as we continue his care.

🐾 Meet Koa – Our Little Warrior! 🐾
In Hawaiian, the name Koa means “Warrior” or “Brave,” and we couldn’t think of a more fitting name for this courageous little boy! ❤️

Koa’s journey began when he was found wandering alone on a gravel road. Thankfully, one of our amazing rescue partners found him and brought him to safety. But she quickly noticed something wasn’t right. Koa was struggling to breathe.

She rushed him to a veterinarian, where X-rays revealed that Koa had a diaphragmatic hernia, a serious condition where abdominal organs can move into the chest cavity, making it difficult to breathe. He needed EMERGENCY surgery to survive.

Without a second thought, our rescue partner jumped in her car and drove TWO HOURS to an emergency veterinary hospital, where the medical team was waiting and ready to operate.

And our little warrior PULLED THROUGH! ❤️🐾

Koa’s story reminds us that rescue takes a village. From the person who stopped to save him to the veterinarians and emergency surgical team, every person played a part in giving this precious boy a second chance at life.

To our incredible rescue partners, THANK YOU for going above and beyond and never giving up on dogs like Koa!

❤️ KOA NEEDS YOUR HELP! ❤️

Koa’s emergency surgery alone costs OVER $5,000, and his journey to recovery is just beginning. These unexpected, lifesaving medical expenses are why donations are so important to our rescue.

Every dollar makes a difference and helps us continue saying YES to dogs who desperately need us.

🐾 Cooper & Chip, A Happy Ending! 🐾
Sometimes life circumstances change, and making the decision to give up a beloved dog is never easy.

Cooper came to Golden Retriever Freedom Rescue when his owner could no longer care for him. Wanting the very best for Cooper, his owner reached out to GRFR for help finding him a loving new home.

And we’re happy to share that Cooper has found his forever family! 🏡❤️

Cooper is settling into his new life and absolutely loving his four-legged brother, Chip! These two are enjoying life together, and Cooper has a new best friend by his side.

We are so grateful to Cooper’s former owner for trusting GRFR to help him find his next chapter, to his foster family for caring for him, and to his forever family for opening their hearts and home to this sweet boy.

This is what rescue is all about, giving dogs a second chance at a lifetime of love!

Wishing Cooper and Chip many years of adventures, companionship, and happiness together! 🐾

🐾 Meet Shaggy, From Abandoned in Oklahoma to a Fresh Start in Colorado! 🐾
Shaggy’s journey hasn’t been easy, but his future is looking bright! ❤️

This handsome boy was found dumped in a remote area of Oklahoma, left to fend for himself. Thankfully, a kind Good Samaritan found him and made sure he got the help he needed. We are so grateful someone stepped up for this sweet boy!

Shaggy just arrived in Colorado TODAY, and he’s ready to start his next chapter with Golden Retriever Freedom Rescue!

🐶 Estimated age: 8–10 months
🐾 Weight: 70+ lbs – he’s a BIG boy!
🐕 Great with other dogs
🐱 Good with cats
👧 Good with kids ages 9+
🩺 Will be neutered before adoption

Shaggy may be a big boy, but he’s still just a puppy with so much life and love ahead of him! He deserves a family who will never abandon him and will give him the love, security, and happiness every dog deserves.

We don’t know what Shaggy’s life was like before he was found, but we do know one thing: his best days are ahead of him!

🏡 Shaggy is looking for his forever family right here in Colorado!

Welcome to Colorado, Shaggy! Your new beginning starts NOW! 🐾

🐾 A GRFR friendship in the making!
Cliff is doing great in his home, and one of the best parts is that he and Archie, who is also a GRFR alum, became fast friends! 💛
There’s something extra special about seeing two GRFR dogs find each other and become buddies. Cliff is settling in beautifully, enjoying his new life, and it sounds like Archie is pretty happy to have a new friend by his side.
Way to go, Cliff & Archie! 🐾

🐾Theo update!

“We are very blessed to have him in our home.” 💛

He has settled into his forever home and is loving life! One of his favorite things is getting out and meeting all the neighborhood dogs and making new friends along the way.

These are the updates we love to receive, knowing one of our rescue dogs is safe, loved, and exactly where he belongs. 🐾

Thank you to his family for giving him such a wonderful life!

🐾 Louie is Loving Life! 🐾

We love hearing how well Louie is doing in his forever home!

Louie loves meeting new people and is always happy to greet guests, especially his “fur grandparents,” who visit often!

He and his fur-brother Jackson quickly found their rhythm together. Their energy and play styles are a perfect match, and they have become the sweetest brothers. Since Mom works from home, Louie spends his days playing with Jackson or snoozing at her feet. When they are left alone, the two boys keep each other company and do great together.

Louie has also been building his confidence! Basement stairs were a little scary at first, but with patience and a slow approach, he’s now a pro. He’s still unsure about the vacuum, laundry baskets and big boxes, so his family gives him plenty of reassurance (and treats!) as he learns those things aren’t so scary.

He enjoys his walks and is working on staying calm when those very tempting squirrels and rabbits appear. Luckily, this food-motivated boy is a quick learner!

We couldn’t be happier to see Louie thriving, learning and enjoying life with his family and his best buddy, Jackson. 🐾

🐾GRFR Alum Eve...now Maple is Loving Life in Her Forever Home! 🐾

Maple is doing wonderfully and has settled right into her forever home! Her family describes her as a little love bug, and she has become best friends with her new fur sibling.
She loves playing with toys, romping around with her best friend, and meeting new people. She takes new experiences in stride and has truly become part of the family!
Maple is still working on her leash manners and prefers having company, but she is making wonderful progress.
Her family says they feel so lucky to have her, and we couldn't be happier for this sweet girl!
Enjoy your wonderful new life, Maple! 🐾
