🐾 Dudley Wants to Talk About Outdoor Pets 🐾
One question we get a lot is:
❓ “Why don’t you adopt dogs to outdoor-only homes?”
❓ “Why don’t you adopt kittens to be outdoor cats?”
Because every week, we see the consequences. 💔
🚗 Hit by cars
🐕 Attacked by other animals
🦠 Exposed to disease
☠️ Poisoned
🔥 Suffering in extreme weather
🦟 Heartworms, fleas, ticks, and parasites
🏃 Escaping and never finding their way home
For puppies and kittens, the risks are even greater. They’re babies. They don’t understand danger, and their immune systems are still developing. ❤️
Can dogs and cats survive outdoors? Sure.
But surviving and thriving are two very different things.
Most dogs want to be with their people. Most cats live longer, healthier lives when safely indoors. That’s why we look for homes where our animals are family members—not just pets that happen to live outside. 🏡✨
Are there exceptions? Absolutely! Some working dogs and barn cats genuinely thrive in outdoor environments. We evaluate those situations on a case-by-case basis.
At the end of the day, our goal isn’t to make adoption harder—it’s to give these animals the safest, happiest life possible. ❤️🐾
And if you ask Dudley?
🐶 “Arooooo!”
Translation:
🛋️ “I’d prefer a couch, please.”
