🐾 WE NEED FOSTERS! 🐾

Oakbrook Cat Rescue is looking for more foster homes! ❤️

We have cats and kittens who need a safe place to land, and our ability to help them depends completely on having foster families ready to open their homes.

✨ What does fostering mean?
You provide the love, care, and a temporary home. We provide support, supplies when available, veterinary care, and help getting your foster ready for adoption.

And you don’t have to be a kitten expert! We need fosters for all kinds of kitties — from tiny babies who need extra care to older kittens and adult cats who just need a little time to blossom.

🐱 Why foster?
• You save a life without making a lifelong commitment
• You help make room for the next cat who needs us
• You get to watch a scared, sick, or tiny kitty become their best self
• And yes… foster fails are allowed. 😉❤️

Our fosters are the reason we can continue helping cats in our community. No foster = no space to take the next cat in need.

🐾 Oakbrook is back at Ziggy's Cat Lounge! 🐾

We’re so excited to have 11 beautiful kittens at Ziggy’s, and they’re all looking for their furrever families! 💕🐱

We’ve got a little bit of everything this time around:

Meet Summer ☀️

What do you do when you’re finished raising kittens? You get spayed, discover that freedom is pretty great, and find out what else life has to offer!

Summer has traded her mama duties for zoomies, moving from the ground floor to the very top of the cat tower, and helping out in the kitchen because, in Summer’s world, food is absolutely her jam. After spending her time fiercely protecting and caring for her kittens, she’s ready to leave motherhood behind and find a home where she can finally receive the same love and care she so freely gave to them.

Summer isn’t quite a lap cat yet, but we think there’s potential there. She can be picked up and carried around, enjoys being petted, and may decide that curling up beside you on the sofa is actually a pretty nice way to spend an evening. She’s an easygoing girl who makes wonderful company without needing to be the center of attention. She’s happy to be nearby, keeping you company, without being overly needy.

And then there’s that coat. Summer is absolutely stunning, with a beautiful tortoiseshell pattern that makes her hard to miss. She’s also working on getting back to her pre-kitten figure. Since she has never met a meal she was willing to skip, we’d say that recovery is going very well. 😂

Summer has adjusted well to the other cats in her foster home and may do well with another friendly, respectful cat. However, for the easiest transition, we think she’d be happiest as your one-and-only. An even better option would be adopting her with one of her own kittens, since she still enjoys chasing and wrestling with them.

Summer is looking for a home with no small children and no dogs.

After everything Summer has done for her babies, we think it’s time someone made her the priority.

🐾Looking for an Extraordinary Home for an Extraordinary Little Cat🐾

This special cat needs more than an adopter... he needs a person who will be his person.

Hiker is about one year old, incredibly affectionate and completely in love with people. He is also deaf. Everyone who meets him falls for him and the feeling is mutual, he has never met a stranger. He wants to be close to people, involved in whatever they are doing and part of everyday life. Getting a bite to eat can be challenging with him, because he believes he should be eating with you.

He did have a difficult start in life and his foster mom says that if you imagine a fearless toddler who has survived a stroke, who can not hear you, you will get a slice of what he is like. "Derpy",is accurate but incomplete. He approaches the world with optimism and curiosity with absolutely no awareness that he has limitations. It's equal parts inspiring, hilarious, and terrifying! He doesn't realize that he can't hear danger. He doesn't always make the safest decisions. He depends on the people around him to notice what he can't - there may also be some vision challenges that may or may not resolve. Because of those things, he needs someone who sees his care as a privilege rather than a burden. In foster-care it was determined he needs to be the
only pet in a home- he startles at every turn.

He needs someone patient and attentive, who can provide a predictable routine and understands how consistency helps him feel safe and thrive... and ideally works from home. When alone he meows nearly non-stop, until he falls asleep, and since he doesn't hear himself he meow's louder and louder... he prefers not to be alone. He is good wearing a harness, riding in a pet seat and doesn't mind a carrier, much. He may be great as an adventure cat but he would always need a thoughtful handler who understands that his confidence far exceeds his judgment. Not hearing puts him at a very high risk of being hurt outside and someone or something approaching from behind or unexpectedly entering his space can surprise him, so he needs a person who is always thinking one step ahead for him. He won't ever be the cat who can "figure it out". Our world wasn't designed for him so we are looking to
find the person willing to design their world for him.

There is no hurry. He is safe with someone who loves him, and is committed to finding his forever home. We are looking for a very special person who reads this and thinks, "I've been waiting for a cat exactly like him."

Visit Beetle and Cricket at Ziggys to see if they are a fit for you and your family!

🪲🦗 Cricket and Beetle are STILL searching for their forever home 🦗🪲

Four weeks.

That’s how long Beetle and Cricket have been waiting at Ziggy's Cat Lounge for someone to look past their initial shyness and see the incredibly sweet girls underneath.

When these sisters first arrived, they were SO shy. For the entire first week, they barely allowed the briefest little pets. They weren’t mean. They weren’t unhappy. They were simply overwhelmed by a new place, new people, and all the changes that come with rescue life.

But then something wonderful happened.

They started to trust. ❤️

And over the past four weeks, Beetle and Cricket have slowly, quietly, beautifully blossomed into the girls we knew were hiding underneath all that shyness.

🪲 Beetle is starting to seek out pets and affection, especially when she’s feeling relaxed. Once she’s in the mood, she LOVES to play, and watching her personality come out has been so rewarding. She has gone from barely accepting a touch to enjoying the attention she once wasn’t sure about.

🦗 Cricket is our little explorer. She loves checking everything out, especially when things are quiet, and she’s becoming more comfortable letting people pet her and play with her. Give her some time and a little patience, and you’ll see that sweet, playful girl emerge.

They aren’t bonded and they don’t have to be adopted together. Each girl could absolutely thrive in her own loving home with another friendly, playful cat.

BUT… we’d really love to see them go home together.

They’ve spent their whole lives together, they love to wrestle and play, and they always find their way back to each other when it’s time to settle down for a nap.
