Cooling down the data!

Data centers rely on processing units that consume large amounts of energy, and as computing intensity rises, the risk of overheating also increases, making effective cooling vital.

Three main cooling strategies include cooling towers, adiabatic cooling systems and direct liquid cooling.

What a great two days of trainings!

First stop was Woodward, where Derek Anderson took technical difficulties in stride and used the white board to teach hydraulics. Thank you to our hosts at High Plains Technology Center in Woodward!

Today was with our friends in the Southwest at Southwest Technology Center in Altus! Thank you to our speakers from Baroid and Solar Power & Pump Supply

A big thank you to the Oklahoma Water Resources Board guys for making these trainings possible and showing us the new online system! If you have any questions please reach out to [email protected]

Oklahoma knows how to show up!

2nd year in a row that OGWA had the most representation at NGWAs DC fly in. We met with our senators and representatives to discuss import topics facing our industry, such as work force development, geothermal tax credits and data center legislation.

Want your voice heard? This is the best way to accomplish our goals. Reach out the Katy for information on our government affairs committee today, [email protected]

Did you know March is national reading month?

There are not many books out there for children on groundwater or the work groundwater professionals do. So some of our own have taken the challenge and written books for kids!

Jennifer Gandy in north Texas wrote Walter the Water Well Truck - https://locustststudio.etsy.com/listing/4455684633/walter-the-water-well-drilling-truck

Dave Schulenberg with NGWA partner states wrote Mr. Mouse gets a new water well - https://my.ngwa.org/NC__Product?id=a18Ud000000BwALIA0

These books are paving the way for the next generation of Groundwater Professionals. Get your copies today, they will go great in Easter baskets!

Up next for woman in Oklahoma Groundwater we have Jessica Correll with Oklahoma Water Resources Board. Here is some of Jessica’s story..

My journey in Oklahoma water started at Oklahoma State, where I traded textbooks for a handheld XRF to study the geochemistry of the Rush Springs Aquifer. Since joining the OWRB in 2011, my career has evolved from technical groundwater mapping and co-authoring hydrologic investigations to leading our division-wide IT and database modernization.
Water is our most undervalued resource.

Today, my focus is bridging the gap between complex data and public understanding through new outreach strategies. Whether it’s serving on the Groundwater Research and Education Foundation board or navigating the "fascinating and frustrating" world of water policy, I’m honored to help protect Oklahoma’s water future. 💧

Thank you Jessica aka First Lady of OGWA!

As we continue to spotlight the women transforming the Oklahoma groundwater industry, we are proud to feature Dr. Caitlin Barnes.

Dr. Barnes has been a monumental asset to the Oklahoma Ground Water Association (OGWA) board. She brings a unique perspective that bridges the gap between high-level academia and the practical, boots-on-the-ground needs of our industry.

Her leadership was instrumental in the recent national campaign to bring awareness to groundwater access, education, and industry training. You may have seen the televised PSA that resulted from this work—a powerful reminder that 98% of the world’s fresh water is right beneath our feet, and it relies on trained professionals to protect it.

📺 Watch the PSA here: https://lnkd.in/gAYhhk8n

Beyond her role at OGWA, Dr. Barnes is a powerhouse in Oklahoma’s scientific community: She serves as the Director of Academic Strategy and Innovation for the OSU College of Arts and Sciences. Trained in geology and environmental science, she also serves as an Assistant Professor in the Boone Pickens School of Geology. She has spent the last five years championing groundwater workforce development, ensuring that our industry remains strong, educated, and ready for the challenges ahead.

Dr. Barnes, thank you for your vision and for everything you do to keep Oklahoma's most precious resource safe and accessible. 💧🎓
