ABUSE DOESN’T HAVE TO BE PHYSICAL TO LEAVE A WOUND.

Abuse takes many forms—and when there is no physical injury, the other types are often minimized, dismissed, or overlooked.

Abuse can look like:

🗣️ Verbal abuse — yelling, threats, name-calling, degrading comments, or using words to frighten and control.

🧠 Emotional/ Psychological abuse — constant criticism, humiliation, intimidation, manipulation, gaslighting, or making someone question their own memory, judgment, or reality.

💵 Financial abuse — controlling money, preventing someone from working, taking their paycheck, creating debt in their name, or withholding basic necessities.

💔 Sexual abuse — forcing or pressuring someone into s*xual activity, ignoring consent, or using s*x as a way to control or punish.

📱 Digital abuse — monitoring phones, demanding passwords, tracking someone’s location, controlling social media, or sending threatening messages.

👀 Stalking — repeatedly following, monitoring, contacting, or watching someone in ways that cause fear or make them feel unsafe.

You don’t have to wait until it becomes physical to take it seriously.
You don’t have to have bruises to deserve support. 💜

💜 CALLING ALL OF OUR COMMUNITY! 💜

On October 1st, you’ll see our purple lights shining down Spruce Street as local businesses come together to show survivors in our community: You are supported. You are seen. You are not alone.

Now, we’re asking YOU to join us!

SCIP has a limited supply of extra purple tube lights, and we want to see them shining all around our community! 🟣🏠

✨ Businesses: Grab your lights and show your support!
✨ Families & community members: Put a purple light at your home!
✨ Already have permanent outdoor lighting? Turn it PURPLE for Domestic Violence Awareness Month!

We are asking for a $5 deposit for each tube light taken for home use. Your deposit will be returned when the light is brought back to SCIP at the end of the month. This helps us keep our lights nice and ready to shine again next year! 💜

📍 Call the SCIP office to get your light TODAY! 308-284-8477
⚠️ Limited supply — don’t wait until the last minute!

Let’s light up our community in purple and remind survivors that we stand with them. 💜
