Topeka Rescue Mission Ministering to those in need by bringing Help & Hope through serving those experiencing homelessness and hunger.

Since 1953, TRM has been a beacon of hope in the Topeka and NE Kansas communities to those experiencing homelessness, hunger, poverty and many forms of trauma. In 70 years of service TRM has grown from a small facility with basic services and just a few beds, to a multi-facility organization that provides shelter, food services, housing opportunities, human trafficking and trauma interventions, rehabilitation, and education for thousands of people in need every year. Additionally, TRM works closely with other community organizations to bring food, clean clothing and showers to unsheltered individuals in the Topeka area. From providing shelter to 1,127 different individuals, to helping 232 individuals find safe and permanent housing, to providing 589,420 meals in 2022, TRM works tirelessly to support those in need in our community. We believe every person who walks through our doors is loved by God, and that each day is an opportunity to change someone’s life for the better. We strive to identify and help heal the root causes of homelessness and poverty, working daily to bring Help and Hope through serving those experiencing homelessness and hunger. In this episode (https://bit.ly/OCOM_EP331), La Manda Cunningham CEO of TRM and Jessyca Moreno, Deputy Director of Mission Advancement and Marketing at TRM, talk with Kirstin Williams of Fleet Feet Topeka about how the Topeka Turkey Trot grew from an expected 250 runners to around 550 in 2025, turning a Thanksgiving tradition into meaningful community support. They discuss this year’s race upgrades, including the new Forbes Field location, a USATF-certified 5K and 10K course, and Fleet Feet Topeka free Fit ID 3D foot scans to promote wellness and injury prevention. The conversation highlights TRM’s hands-on partnership through volunteers, race-day support, and opportunities to educate participants about its mission across Shawnee County. They also explain the food donation drive, where participants can receive 15% off registration by bringing five non-perishable food items, and clarify what foods qualify for donation.

A few members of our TRM team stopped by Ta Co. Topeka this week to enjoy some delicious food and support a wonderful community partnership!

Ta Co. Topeka dedicated its Spotlight Table to our mission, donating 10% of purchases made at that table to support the work we do in our community!
