Orange County Animal Allies In 1987, we were granted 501(c)(3) nonprofit status and the Orange County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OCSPCA) was born.

Orange County Animal Allies is dedicated to saving animal lives and strengthening the human-animal bond by providing emergency financial support, educational and referral resources, and therapy programs. A Legacy Of Community Support
OC Animal Allies began in 1984 as a small group of dedicated animal lovers in Orange County coming together to form an organization dedicated to helping Orange County residents and animals. In 2019, the organization changed its name to OC Animal Allies to reflect its unique position in the animal welfare space and to more accurately convey its mission and vision. With a continued focus on how best to serve the residents and animals in Orange County, our organization has developed innovative programs that focus on keeping animals out of shelters, and potentially euthanasia. Today, OC Animal Allies provides solutions for spay and neuter, emergency financial support, education and other resources. Our programs bring hope to Orange County pet owners who often have nowhere else to turn for help. OC Animal Allies is an independent, volunteer-driven, non-profit and is not affiliated with any other SPCA, including the ASPCA. We do not receive any funding from government or other agency and our operations are entirely funded by the generosity of our individual and corporate donors.

🎃 Happy Halloween from Orange County Animal Allies! 🐾

Every year we’re delighted and grateful to join John Wayne Airport, Orange County's Halloween parade, and this year was AWESOME!

Our AirPAWS teams came ready to play. Travelers met a hot dog, a bumblebee, a couple of pumpkins, a ghost, a tiger, a cowboy, and Lava looking fabulous in her blue tutu. Kalani Cupcake went with the obvious choice for an airport and showed up as a pilot. She even got a photo with a real pilot! 👨‍✈️✈️

The best part was watching the terminal light up. Kids got down on the floor for puppy hugs, travelers stopped to say hello before their flights, and lots of people walked to their gates smiling.

A huge thank you to John Wayne Airport for having us, to every traveler who stopped to say hi, and to our amazing AirPAWS team members and their pups, who show up all year long to make flying a little less stressful. 💙🧡

Wishing everyone a safe and happy Halloween! 👻

Sponsor Highlight: Andrew & JeanMarie Bushell 🐾

Please join us in thanking Andrew and JeanMarie Bushell, the final Ally-level Sponsors of Piano for Paws: An Evening to Save Animal Lives!

Andrew and JeanMarie’s love for animals reaches well beyond Orange County. They’re active supporters of two dog rescues in Fort Worth, Texas, including Saving Hope, and Big Dog Ranch in Florida. We look forward with working with them to see how much more we can do here in Southern California, from our mobile spay and neuter clinics to the families we help keep together with their pets.

Thank you, Andrew and JeanMarie, for your generosity and your heart for animals everywhere. 🧡💙

Next week, we’ll continue our sponsor highlights with our Protector Level Sponsors. Stay tuned!

We can't say enough about the work of our community partner, Helen Sanders CatPAWS! They prevent thousands of unnecessary killing of our precious cats with their spay & neuter work.

Coco!!!! Such a sweet 10-year-old girl, but she was having a really rough time when she came to us through our Animal Relief Fund Veterinary Care Financial Aid program.

Her belly had become badly swollen, making it hard for her to breathe, walk, play, or even eat. There just wasn’t room in her tummy for food. The only way she could get comfortable enough to breathe was lying flat on her back, and her little teeth were chattering constantly.

We stepped in to cover her diagnostics so her family could finally get answers. The diagnosis was pyometra, a serious and potentially life-threatening uterine infection that needs surgery.

That’s when a whole community came together for Coco:

💙 Dr. Cruz at Jet's Pet Hospital 🐾 offered to perform her surgery at a generously discounted price
💙 OC Animal Allies contributed am additional $600
💙 Actors and Others for Animals, another amazing safety-net organization, contributed $499

Senior pets like Coco deserve every chance to keep living comfortably at home with the people who love them. Her care was made possible with support from The Grey Muzzle Organization's Stay at Home Grant, which helps keep senior dogs where they belong...HOME!

Thank you to everyone who showed up for this girl. 🧡

Our hearts are so full! 🐾❤️

Our Canine Literacy therapy dog teams just wrapped up a five-week session with the wonderful students at Lawrence Elementary (Garden Grove), and when we walked in for our final visit, this beautiful hand-made “Thank You” poster was waiting for us!

The artist included every one of our dogs...our regulars Amilyn, Liska, Oliver, Sami, Shealyn, and Storm, plus our amazing subs Kalani Cupcake, Rontu, Lava, and Crosby. Seeing their names in those big paw prints made our whole team smile!

The kindness didn’t stop there. Ms. Kawai surprised each volunteer with an envelope full of thank you notes from the students, and our regular teams went home with canvas bags personalized with their dog’s name, sweet little quilted dog-themed bags made by her mom, and toys for the pups. (Our furries are still thrilled about that last part!)

Week after week, the Lawrence staff, teachers, and students made us feel so welcome and so appreciated. Our volunteers agree this was one of the most organized and joyful Canine Literacy sessions we’ve ever had!

Thank you, Lawrence Elementary, for opening your doors (and your hearts) to our dogs. We can’t wait to read with you again! 📚🐶

We are counting down the days to Piano for Paws: An Evening to Save Animal Lives on November 4! 🎹🐾🍷

Our silent auction and w**e lot raffles are coming together, and we couldn’t be more excited. From unforgettable experiences and family outings to fantastic local dining and some truly special bottles of w**e... there’s something for everyone.

None of this would be possible without the incredible businesses and organizations who said “yes” when we asked for help. Honestly, the response has been so touching. So many of you stepped up quickly and generously, and it reminds us how much our community cares about animals and the people who love them.

To every one of our in-kind donors: THANK YOU. Your generosity will help keep pets healthy, families together, and animals out of shelters across Orange County. ❤️

Please show these amazing partners some love and support them whenever you can!

Midterms... meet therapy dogs. 🐾

Our PAWS Therapy Dog Teams spent the day at Laguna College of Art + Design visiting students and staff, offering a welcome break from midterms and big projects.

LCAD is an absolutely amazing institution. They shape incredible creative talent, and they do it in a way that always centers on what’s best for their students.

Kali, Chrissy, and Rontu were the ultimate welcome distraction. (Chrissy literally melted into one student’s arms, and the two just gazed at each other like old friends. An instant connection.) 💛

Then we popped over to their Big Bend campus, currently under construction, to visit even more students studying all things digital, from graphic design to animation and game development.

To every LCAD student... best of luck this semester. We can’t wait to come back!

Last week, we made the rounds to pick up donations for our No Empty Bowls pet food pantry at two of our donation drop off locations, and our community showed up in a big way! 🐾

The team at Pet Supply Warehouse Mission Viejo was busy keeping local pets happy and healthy, but they still took the time to hand off this incredible haul... a full cart of dry and canned food, treats, toys, and even a cozy bed to tuck it all into. Thank you for your generosity and for more than 35 years of caring for Orange County’s pets!

We are also so grateful to team up with Clickstart Dog Training Academy, where our donation bin keeps filling up thanks to their amazing clients. Next time you’re in Lake Forest, please stop by, say hi, and thank them for stepping up for our community’s animals.

Every bag and can goes straight to local families who need a little help keeping their pets fed and at home where they belong. 💛
