It seemed only fitting that if you host an event for books, you have the local bookstore Wordsmith Bookshoppe and our Galesburg Public Library participate! What a great evening of fans signing up for library cards and checking out the info and giveaways from Wordsmith! Our young Reading Challenge Winners brought the energy!

We heard Streaks Coach Shawn Hickey say "it takes a village" to be successful and we couldn't agree more! There are some incredible people who deserve a big shout-out for their help in making our "Black-Out for Books" event a winner! The always helpful Yearbook Advisor Mr. Brad Bennewitz and his staff connected with students & delivered shirts to help kick off the week! GHS teacher-of-all-trades, Mr. Russ Ullrich and his multi-media student Rylan Ingles provided outstanding coverage and helped display events! Managing to highlight all the contests and sponsors during the night, Announcer and GPSF Board member Ben Bredemeier was so patient and dedicated to getting it all in! Who knew that GHS Dean Chad Thompson and Security Steve were experts in transporting & setting up a giant Plinko game?? But they were rock stars to make sure that happened! Always patient with the details, Athletic Director Nick Young was a great supporter of our event and pitched in whenever he could! We also would like to shout-out our Speedy Streak Reid Schleich and extra point holder Jackson Darrah! Our contest winners KJ Walker, Deb Rosenberg and Grace Herchenroder helped make the evening entertaining! To all of the Streak fans & community members who supported us, we say, "Thank you!" We hope you enjoy this recap of the game!

Celebrating our successful Black-Out for Books event and recognizing these generous sponsors! With their help, we generated approx. $4000 that will be used to partner with Wordsmith Bookshoppe to buy books for teachers & their classrooms! The businesses below and the book clubs, teams and groups named are appreciated!! Thank you for supporting books & reading!!! :)
