Dolly Parton’s family has released a statement after her passing yesterday in Nashville at 80 years young.
They called her “a rhinestone life that shone bright enough for the world to see,” adding “Dolly will forever stand as an inspiration not only through her timeless music and prolific songwriting, but also her wit, warmth, and kindness that made us all feel like family. Her legacy is one of love, compassion, resilience and an unwavering commitment to making the world a better place.“

Want to keep helping Madison County families recover from the flooding?

Volunteer cleanup efforts will continue over the next few weeks, and volunteers are still needed to help impacted homeowners clean up and move forward.

If you can volunteer for the day, please arrive at the Volunteer Reception Center at Bethany Christian Church by 8 a.m. Volunteers will be organized into teams and deployed from this central location to homes where help is needed.

Want to sign up ahead of time? You can register and complete your volunteer waiver online through IDES before you arrive.

We took a couple of hours this week to hand deliver a set of grants to recipients of Designated Grants. It's always uplifting to visit with the organizations we serve through grant support, and when we do, we're honored to carry with us the spirit of those fund founders who are giving beyond their lifetimes.

Big Blue will be at Pendleton Community Public Library today from 3-7pm. We'll be giving tetanus shots and handing out buckets of cleaning supplies to victims of flooding. See you there!

The Madison County Health Department’s mobile unit “Big Blue” will be set up here at Pendleton Community Public Library on Thursday, August 20, 2026 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. They will be distributing cleaning supplies, PPE, water, snacks, etc.
